Mochache the Ranger

Mochache is a human ranger, originally from the city of Duntown, where he served as a acolyte to The Old Temple of Denrah. All that changed when he saw something suspicious and reported it. He was branded a heretic, and he fled to the north of the region. An admirer of nature all his life, he learned how to sustain and protect himself in the Wilds and found himself drawn towards the calling of the ranger.
He knows the area on the west of the river Armont perhaps better than anyone else, despite his relative youth, and he is sensitive to any change in the Wilds.

Magic Items

Mochache found a magical longbow that boasts otherworldly accuracy, and aids him in sensing enemies. It is known as the Prog Bow, because it plays snatches of progressive rock when enemies are nearby.

Mochache joined Malmeck's School for Adventurers in order to formalise his experience in the wilderness. Unfortunately, he was rather put off by the collaborative learning parts of the course, and failed to hand in any course material that relied on contributions from classmates. This is partly to do with his own standoffishness, but also perhaps with his arrogance and his 'I know better than you' attitude. The fact that he did know better did not help. He fell in with his fellow adventurers due to sitting next to Joom Jim and Borf the Bombastic at lunch one day, and being engaged in conversation by Joom. The only Halflings in the College, they were in need of company, and the distracted Ranger hadn't seen them.
Mochache's refund check was carried by Karty the Fighter , who lost it along with four others in a skirmish with some goblins in t-shirts. He participated in the rescue of Neramew from the The Club of Earth, stepping forward bravely to defend his littlefolk friends.
The need of money and the love of the Wilds saw him take on Tan Peart's challenge to investigate rumours of illegal logging. Instead, he found a group of labourers coppicing, met a dog called Fido, and sensed a dragon deeper in the forest.
An ominous feeling came upon Mochache as they travelled deeper into the forest, causing him to turn back. To his horror, he found that the labourers and their animals had been slaughtered by a group of four rangers named after LotR elves, even although they were all humans. He reprimanded them and led them and his friends deeper into the forest, where they met the ancient hill ponies of the Wilds.
Mochache then found a piece of the Wilds that he had never seen before, which he realised must be magical. He met the Dragon God Io, who gave him and two of his companions a warning about a cosmic evil.
He returned with his friends and the trigger-happy rangers to Livey, and took delivery of the 500GP each that Tan Peart had offered for information. He noticed that Holy Peart seemed particularly interested in the name of Cool Jazz, who the coppicers had called 'Boss'. On further pressing, he revealed that he thought Cool Jazz would be judged in the planes beyond.
