The Malmeck Building

The headquarters of Malmeck Industries, located in Algoods.

Purpose / Function

Malmeck the Warlock had this hyper-modern office building erected in Algoods on a derelict patch of land. It was made to house the administrative staff of his company on his return to Westlo.   Today, the building consists of eight storeys, with the top being a living area for the Warlock himself. It offers an excellent view of the city, with the Temple of Dendrah - Duntown to the west, the Academica to the East, and the sea to the south.

Architecture

The design work on the building was done by a firm of architects in Faerun using the latest designs. However, the construction work was undertaken by a Duntonian firm that used a lot of goblin labour. It is therefore unclear whether the resulting building matches the original vision.   The use of mirrored glass and uncanny angles make the building difficult to look at, and there have been reports of staff falling ill simply by ascending the stairs. The fourth floor of the building, while clearly visible from the outside, has yet to be found by conventional means, although it is possible to teleport to and from it. Again, it is not clear whether this is by design or a happy accident.   For all its quirks, the citizens of Duntown seem to be largely proud of the towering, uncanny building.

History

The building was erected on derelict ground that was previously owned by the Temple of Dendrah - Duntown. It is not clear what the land was used for in the past, but it was remarkable that no vegetation grew on the site while it was abandoned. This is, no doubt, due to the careful stewardship of the Temple's custodians.
