Blutroch

Sigmar's Heirs (Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay (2nd Edition)
The Guilty Party (Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay (4th Edition)
Officially the town of Blutroch no longer exists it was completely wiped out by the Red Pox in 2511 IC and according to official records is now just a ghost town. However, its location midway been Altdorf and Bogenhafen where the Imperial Highway bridges the River Blut is too important for the town to remain empty for long.   The Cannon Ball Express Coaching Company quickly restored the coaching Inn on the bridge over the river which provides supportb and hospitality for travellers on the second day of the their journey from Altdorf. Blutroch is the location of the only bridge over the River Blut on the border between the Principality of Altdorf and the Duchy of Midwald and so it is vital to travel along the Imperial highway.   The River Blut is navigable from its confluence with the Bogen at Gamdorf and river barges regularly make the trip up the Blut as far as Blutroch to collect shipments of timber, which has always been the main trade of the town.   The coaching inn is right on the river at the bridge and is called 'The Speared Pike Inn' the sign depicts a large Stirpike speared by a harpoon or trident-like spear. It is a popular spot for fishing and the tavern is famous for its delicious fish pies.   However, Blutroch is still suffering the aftermath of the plague and large parts of the town are still abandoned and in a state of disrepair.   The large number of empty houses and the lack of formal town leadership has also made it a perfect place for halflings fleeing the ravages of 'The Shorty Slicer' and the 'Ordo Naturalis' in Altdorf to find refuge. Halflings are naturally resistant to disease anyway and so Blutroch has become one of the favoured locations for halfling families trying to make a fesh start outside the city.   As a consequence Blutroch now has an unusually high population of halflings similar to many of the small towns around Altdorf.   Blutroch is a town on the mend. Still fearful of the past for the reasons already mentioned but far too good an opportunity to be left abandoned by those who are desperate enough and in need of a fresh start. How long it will be before the Grand Prince decides to re-establish a formal town council and governorship remains to be seen.
