Emmanuelle’s Slophouse and Flophouse
Emmanuelle’s is little more than a large shack with holes in the walls, floor, and roof. The interior features collapsing benches and stolen crates where diners can enjoy a bowl of lucky slop for 1d. Lucky slop is not a meal; it’s an emotional journey for the taste buds. This is a unique concoction, based on a delicate blend of Reik and Talabec water, infused with the essence of bones and soil.
The chef adds a variety of locally sourced ingredients to this stock: potato peelings, weeds, and unidentified clumps of fur. Then there is the finishing touch that makes the dish ‘lucky’
— the chance of finding a piece of ‘meat’, boiled lovingly to a distinctive shade of grey.
The owner of the Slophouse is Emmanuelle D’Artoigne, selfprofessed ‘Knight of the Culinary Arts’. He is on a crusade to bring gustatory enlightenment to Altdorf. The destitute customers who shuffle into the Slophouse are willing to tolerate D’Artoigne’s grandiose nonsense when he doles out the slop, providing he keeps the price low.
