The Age of Creation

Timeline basec upon 'The World of Warhammer' Timeline from the Official Illustrated Guide by Richard Galland
The Age of Creation is a term used by The Elves to define a vague period of around ten thousand years. It began when the last of the Silver Ships carrying The Old Ones and their Eldar servants rose from the surface of the planet and dissappeared into the departure portal above the southern pole of the planet and it ended with The Great Cataclysm that resulted in the destruction of both portals and the beginning of The Age Of Chaos.   Amongst the original servitor races with which The Old Ones initially seeded the planet The Elves were probably the most advanced at the time they left having been carefully nurtured by The Old Ones to provide the all important power distribution network needed to deliver the Aetheric Energy needed for their terraforming activities around the globe. Therefore, when they left it was not surprising that much of the history of what transpired was recorded by The Elves and decidely elven in its perspective.

The Children Of The Star Gods

That The Elves considered themselves to be the chosen ones is no secret. They had after all been chosen by the Star Gods to be the custodians of their power and been given the gift to see and weave the magical energy used by the gods to manipulate life and creation.   The Old Ones were of course not oblivious to this belief. In fact, given that they weilded the power to appear to their servitor races in any form they wished it is almost certain that they deliberately chose to present them selves to each in the guise most appealing to their cultural beliefs.   So, to The Elves they almost certainly appeared as Elven Gods, to The Dwarfs as Ancestors Gods, the Lizardmen have certainly drawn their gods in their own image, whilst the tribes of man record their gods as semi-human deities with magical powers. Each of the servitor races probably consider themselves to be the chosen ones but The Elves more than any others still consider themselves the only true custodians of their power.

The Age of Expansion

There was without doubt a long period after the departure of The Old Ones when nothing much happened on the planet. The servitor races continued with their tasks in anticipation of the return of their gods and when those tasks were complete and without further guidance they probably lapsed into a regime of routine maintenance and introspection about the reason they had been abandoned and the meaning of their existence.   Leaders began to emerge from the ranks of those who had been their task masters under the guidance of the Star Gods and in the absence of any other motivation began to shape the structure, goals and beliefs of their kin. Under this guidance The Elves began to expand their influence over the world establishing settlements, colonies and fortresses across the planet as far east as The Fortress of Dawn and as far west as The Citadel of Dusk. Elven civilisation flourished as Elven Loremasters used the power granted to them by The Old Ones to shape the world to their liking.
The first encounters occurred with other servitor races, some proved fruitful, others degenerated into hostility and conflict when disputes over personal interests conflicted. It was around this time that The Elves first encountered the ferile tribes of man and tried to educate them in the ways of harmony and the natural order of life. It was a decision that would later be regretted by the Elven High Loremaster Teclis who concluded that the race of men were too shortlived and too desperate for personal gain to ever live in harmony with the world around them and would always corrupt any power they were grant to their own selfish ends.
Nevertheless, The Elves did introduce the early Human tribes to the existence of Aetyric Energy and tried to teach them how to weild it effectively in in harmony with their own lives and the world around them creating an early form of religion based upon natural order and respect of the natural world that later became fragmented into the Druidic, Elemental and Wicken faiths.
