Mining Bots

How do they work?

It is a basic metal casting with a thermal engine powered by a furnace within the bot that can also be fuelled off what the bot mines. One chunk of coal can keep the bot going for around 12 hours. The casing is basic iron bolted together and the drill piece is made out of adamantine a durable material that allows the bot to mine through most things.

What types of things can it mine?

seeing it's drill bit is made of adamantine, this allows the bot to mine from copper to just below adamantine density.

Where does it put what it mines?

It has a small storage within the bot that when full it empties it into a pre determined location to dump the materials. this can be either a mine cart or just a hole in the ground.

Testing that has happened involving the bots:

These bots have been tested on clearing out a destroyed dwarf bunker that collapsed whilst few member of the brother hood were inside it, so far the bots have cleared most of the bunker and they have proven effective as of yet.

Side notes:

Due to the bot's size it is obvious that it's capacity would be limited to solve this issue of constantly going forth, a filter mechanism was placed within the bots allowing the bot to see what it basic rubble and what are gemstones and ores of value, any type of materials that are junk are left behind whilst those of value are stored within the bot to be extracted with delicate care by a person rather than the bot dumping them.
In operations where the bots need to clear out an area though, all bots will retain this filter but separate the valued items to the junk, it will dump the junk as soon as it has left the site and keep the valuables on it for manual output later on, this area of these bots can only be opened by a metal key.
Having a mining bot in general does little in a mining operation and can be followed up by different types of bots, such as automated builders, no these would not automatically construct a base of operations but this bot would add pillars in structurally insecure places allowing the place that the main bots are mining out does not collapse in on itself making it a loss on all sides. other versions of these bots could be developed to make an automated mining operation though the cost and risk value of that is determined on the location and the materials of these new bots and would take further analysis into these ideas.
