Ritual of Linked Minds

This ritual will bond two persons together by blood, seemingly exchanging a sliver of their souls or essence with each other. A link will form that will enable the participants to share experiences, senses and emotions with each other. A linked couple would be able to use this to great advantage in situations where wordless fast communication could be of importance, example on a field-mission or scouting missions. It will also enable them to take advantages if one another strengths and help each other out in times of need. The ritual was researched and evolved due to an unforeseen side-effect, where Myandra and Kara'zima accidentally formed a link during a Ritual of Blessed Runes. They seem to be able to sense and feel each other’s surface emotion through the bond, as well as pain and discomfort.
The ritual is focused around the sharing of each other’s blood and life-essence, on sharing pain and the ritual carving of runes into the skin.
Ingredients for the ritual needs to be gathered and prepared by the participants, under the supervision of the Ritualist, so that no other influence can tamper with the ritual. The runes shall be personal to the two participants according to their personality and background.

Effect

The link can be extremely useful for members that are willing to link themselves to another member of the Brotherhood, as the link will enable them to share:
-Surface thoughts, can be trained after time to be enhanced, granting them a fast mental communication over distance.
-Emotions, both linked subjects will sense what the other one is feeling and be affected by this.
-Traits that will enhance the other person linked. For example, a more feral personality or a stronger sense of smell, or added strength and endurance.
-Pain and other physical sensations will be shared to some degree. Sensations will not be felt as great as the original recipient will feel, but it will be noticeable. Training might enable the linked ones to be able to shut the sensations off, time will tell since test-subjects have been weak.

Side/Secondary Effects

-They wont be able to have mental privacy from each other for quite some time.
-Feedback emotions will affect them.
-Ritual is painful and the strain of having to share one’s mind with somebody might be a shock.
-Death. If one of the linked one dies, the other will lose part of their soul/essence. This will most likely cause severe mental trauma, apart from the psychological aspect of feeling and experiencing someone die.
-If one of the bonded persons goes in with the intent of being superior and in control, he/she/it could very possibly succeed in mind-controlling the other.
-Link will not be easily broken. As it is magical in nature, the backlash will cause extreme pain, mental breakdown and other undesired side-effects. Tests on subjects have shown that the breaking of the link has caused the subjects to feel as if they have "lost" part of their souls and some have gone mad.
If the pair is unsuitable but goes through with the ritual anyways, there is a strong possibility of mental degradation, personality changes, loss of self and madness. Some test-subjects have, where one subject in the linked pair is mentally more stronger, converted the link into a sort of mind-control.
So far any linking with three or more subjects have only induced mental breakdown and madness in subjects. It might be possible, but further research is needed.

Gestures & Ritual
The two participants should sit in the circle opposite each other and ingredients should be split in two and place in two half-circles around them, following the regular method of rituals previously described, but mirrored. Let the ritualist close the circle with the three of them inside. Present the ingredients and their purpose and put them in the large bowl between the participants.
Follow this with the cutting out runes onto each participant’s skin and rub the ink based on the other participants blood into the wound, thus mixing their blood together. Continue the routine on the next participant as well. Be mindful that the runes will at the end of the ritual appear on the other participant in the same location, mirroring each other. There should be equal amount of runes cut onto each participant.
Place the slices of skin that has been cut away from the participants into the bowl, on top of the ingredients and when the carving of runes is done make the offering to Shadra, Matron of the web. The ritualist should then give the participants one knife each, where they will give their own blood as an offering into the bowl. The effect should start here, the participants should receive their mirroring scars and start to feel each other through the link. If one should break the circle to early, before the participants have gotten used to the sensations, the effect will be instant over a few seconds which can cause severe pain, trauma and confusion.
