Empty Ones

Empty ones are the form of the nothingness spirits given human-like vessel. They speak empty words that mean nothing and at the same time, cut deep into someones' psyche. They attack with those words unrelentingly as they do not tire.

Basic Information

Anatomy

They look like humans, however, if someone would look into their mouths as they speak or into their eyes, which they often cover, they would notice that Empty Ones, much like their name implies, are completely empty, as if someone took a human and completely hollowed them out. They don't have eyeballs and their mouths are sewn together (but they can open a little). Before the Extinction, they often had to wear sunglasses and scarves to cover their inhuman traits.
Their hair is black and simple and their skin is white, with a sickly blue tint. Besides the top of their heads, they do not have hair anywhere else (they even don't have eyebrows or eyelashes).
For some reason, they have their fingernails and lips painted black.

Genetics and Reproduction

As most of the spirits, they do not reproduce.
As they are closely tied to humans, before the Extinction most of them were born when someone felt completely hopeless. Now, when there are almost no humans, the new ones stopped showing up. It is possible that at some point most of this kind of the spirits of nothingness will die out, with a few staying in empty areas forever.

Ecology and Habitats

They live in places that have nothing in them, passively feeding of them.
They can be met on fields, empty roads or buildings that have been abandoned long ago.
If they stay there for prolonged periods of time, all life starts to disappear from the place until it becomes a wasteland.

Dietary Needs and Habits

They feed on nothingness, mainly one that is caused by the despair and giving up. They do so by talking. Each word of theirs that is heard by the person they stalk, drains a little energy from that person. When there is almost no energy left, the person loses all of their will to live. At that point, if the Empty One touches the person, they will drain them out of all of the nutrients in their body, leaving behind only dried out skin. If someone can somehow tune it out, they would be immune to that effect. If someone starts to listen to them, they can also look into their mind to search for the things to say that would hurt their prey the most.

They can see as if they had eyes, but they can also sense the beating of the heart of the beings around them.

Common Etiquette Rules

They will always greet anyone they start to stalk.

Common Dress Code

They wear clothes that could be considered elegant but very bland (usually simple suits). They look as if almost all of the colors seeped out of them.

Common Taboos

Getting rid of them is pretty easy. They hate rhythm, harmony, melody, anything that has a structure that creates something whole. As such, someone can scare them away even by singing, as long as the melody is harmonic and all of the words of the song are remembered.
