Those looking for a true diamond in the rough look no further than the Dracaena's temple, Amethyne. A massive temple constructed in the middle of an oasis, it is the official capital of the Dragonlands. What sets this area apart from other towns is it has the smallest size and population of any settlement in Geolga. The temple is the only building in Amethyne and it houses less than 1000 people and only one dragon. This contradicts its massive size as the temple can easily house twice that many humans and a hundred dragons.
The history of Amethyne is also shrouded in mystery. The building predates the Great Rebellion and its exact age is unknown. Scholars believe the temple was used as a meeting place for the various Dracaena who ruled over the humans at the time. Rumors state that the leader of the Dracaena lived there.
What is known is that no other temple like it--ruin or otherwise--exists. That it was built underground and its various accommodations meant for dragons suggests it was built for them, but even the dragons have no record of this temple's purpose or age, or they refuse to say.
The only thing official records can agree on is that the building changed hands multiple times over the centuries. Humans and dragons fought over this place constantly until the current Dracaena stepped in and took it for herself. Amethyne has stood as a symbol of power for the Dracaena ever since.
Demographics
Rumor has it the Dracaena lives alone in this massive complex with only her loyal kobolds to serve her. However, sources have revealed that there may be another dragon living there. The exact details of this mysterious guest, including confirmation of their existence, continue to elude me.
Defences
The land itself serves as a natural defense. The valley provides a narrow route of passage and the temple being mostly underground means there are few routes to sneaking inside. A large stone wall bars entry to the main yard.
And that does not include the most powerful dragon in Geolga residing within Amethyne's walls...
Industry & Trade
The temple is self-sustaining. With a garden, underground spring Even without the many deliveries of food and supplies from the clans and pilgrims, it can support its residents indefinitely.
Assets
Unknown. Wild, exaggerated rumors about the extreme wealth and poverty of the place abound. In practice, many pilgrims visit the temple every year and they always bring gifts, so the idea of the Dracaena being rich beyond counting is not too exaggerated.
But it has not stopped the treasure seekers from imagining the piles of wealth stored deep within its halls. And there is also the temple being around since before the Great Rebellion. Centuries of gift-bearing pilgrims would certainly lead to a massive horde of family heirlooms, now priceless relics of a forgotten age, and other treasures that perhaps only a dragon could find value in. However, the Dracaena has not yet confirmed nor denied these allegations. Whether this is by design or lack of concern remains to be seen.
Guilds and Factions
Amethyne is home to only the Dracanea and her kobolds, the most loyal and dedicated of the dragon religion.
Tourism
The homeplace of the only Dracaena makes it a preferred target for many who practice dragon worship whether publically or privately. Even non-believers make the journey to ask the Dracaena's favor as her influence outranks any known Matriarch.
The pilgrims deliver gifts to the Dracaena and pray in front of the many well-crafted statues. Others go to "heal" their weary bodies and partake in the infinite youth of dragons. To put it simply, it is similar to a very luxurious spa resort, however, its services are only available to those who prove themselves loyal followers.
Lately, scholars have been attempting to visit so that they may study the centuries-old murals covering the walls. However, the Dracaena, perhaps understanding the value of such a find, has been very strict about who she allows entry.
