Situation Overview

Lady Elizabeth Wallings suffered a major blow following the skirmish at Coral Cove, culminating in being legally stripped of her title and holdings. However, as she remains at large and with a significant amount of funding, her rebellion is not yet over. Intelligence suggests some materiel intended to reinforce her are located in a storage facility in the Harbor District, and several cargo vessels have been suborned for transport purposes.

As it will be exceedingly difficult to find these reinforcements once they escape, Priam Company has taken a contract to ascertain what reinforcements (if any) are present and secure as much as possible. The mercenary outfit has been granted permission to keep a portion of whatever may be salvaged for their own use, but all prisoners and "information of interest" is to be turned over to the Pelea Militia.

Objectives

Primary Objective: Get the Intel: According to intelligence, there are five warehouses within the complex which have been used by Lady Wallings' cohorts. All five warehouses must be located. (100 WP)
Secondary Objective: As much of the reinforcements must be prevented from escaping, as is realistically possible. A majority of the rebellion forces must not leave the field safely. (400 WP)
Optional Objective: Some of the conspirators might have important information which can help determine what Lady Wallings is doing, and who is supporting her efforts. To that end, destroy or cripple these secretly designated units. For each unit captured, add 50 to the final reward.

Setup

The storage area is defined by a network of roads moving through the overall facility, many kilometers of storage buildings and associated places. The western side of the battlefield is waterfront for the ocean, quickly falling off into deep water. Along the North end, where there are fences keeping out tresspassers, there is scrubland and lightly forested areas which make the approach from that side difficult. However, Priam Company is approaching from there on the assumption the rebels have not realized their presence yet. There are ten warehouses, five of which are tall two-level buildings and five as flattened, one-level buildings.
One of the rebel lances "Fiddlers Grey", has been dispatched to the facility to recover and escort new hardware out of the area to waiting cargo carriers. They enter from the south side of the area. Five of the warehouse buildings are chosen at random to contain the three materiel shipments; two trios of BattleMechs will be placed in secretly chosen buildings, as well as one Lance of combat vehicles. Two other buildings are secretly chosen to contain nothing but sensitive material.
The rebels must leave through the eastern edge of the battlefield, and may only depart once all hidden units have been made active.

Special Rules

Forced Withdrawal: When certain conditions are met, the defending units will surrender in position. These conditions are as follows:
  • If a BattleMech expends all their ammunition and has no more available weapons.
  • If a BattleMech loses one side torso location due to damage.
  • If a BattleMech sustains internal damage in two torso locations or three limb locations.
  • If a BattleMech suffers two Engine hits or one Engine hit and one Gyro hit.
  • If a BattleMech is rendered immobile or otherwise unable to escape the battlefield.
Salvage: Salvage is authorized, but limited to a value equal to or less than 500 SP per objective completed.
Hidden Units: Three divisions of Wallings' units have been hidden inside warehouses and can reveal themselves at any time voluntarily. Alternatively, when a warehouse hiding units is scanned by a player unit the units must reveal they are present. On the turn they are forcibly revealed, they may not act; if they voluntarily reveal themselves they may move into any adjacent space to the building for a cost of 2 MP.
Secret Designations: The player controlling the opposing force selects up to five units which are special targets. They do not reveal these targets until the end of the mission, at which point objective scoring is determined.
The following units have been selected for this: WTH-1, HCT-3F, LCT-1S, Maxim, Packrat. Scanning (Basic): These scans are cursory scans used to identify basic target identities, should they be obscured by various means. A friendly unit must close to within two spaces of a target, and end their move there.

Special Abilities

Lucky: Sometimes you just find luck when you least expect it. For each point of Lucky, this pilot may reroll one Gunnery or Piloting roll per scenario.
Multi-Tasker: Whenever you want to exploit a target-rich environment, or just need to have your attention divided, it's difficult. However, this pilot reduces all attacks against secondary targets by a -1 To-Hit bonus after working on their ability to split their focus.
Oblique Attacker: It takes some skill to read where your enemy is, when you can't have visual confirmation. This pilot can make Indirect LRM attacks against a target without the benefit of a spotterand have a -1 To-Hit bonus when doing so.
Range Master: This pilot has trained to fire more accurately at a different range than normal. They swap their short range penalty for the designated range penalty (either medium or long range this means their short range is now less accurate but their chosen range is more accurate.
Sandblaster: This unit rolls on the Cluster Hit table better than average. At long range they get a +2 bonus, at medium range they get +3 instead, and at short range they get +4 instead.
Speed Demon: This unit may move 1 extra space while using Running/Flank speed, but it may make no attack action this round.

Battle Report

Prelude

(Image Link: Overview)
(Image Link: Fiddlers Grey)
Immediately on arrival, Priam Company's Lance commander discovered unauthorized forces also en route to the storage facility. These other mercenaries were contracted under Lady Wallings, and were coming to help cover the retrieval of the equipment. This meant Priam Company needed to get to it much faster than they had anticipated, and all the firepower which had been brought to the fight now had to be directed to cut off the rebels' escape.

Turn 1

(Image Link)
Priam Company advanced, with the Warhammer and Black Knight swinging to move in advance of the escape route. The Orion and Ostroc advance through the rough terrain, hoping to take any targets as they appear. The Condor Heavy Hovertanks move into the storage area, intending to cut around and engage any fast-moving units. The Whitworth and Wolverine belonging to Fiddler's Grey climb atop one of the buildings and fire on one of the hovercraft, while the two Locusts rush into the storage facility. The storage buildings which contained BattleMechs exposed their units, as the Condor which took fire raked its four Medium Lasers across one of the Stingers. This severely damaged the armor, yet did not put it down.

Turn 2

(Image Link)
Inside the storage facility, one Condor engages the Griffin, suffering considerable damage before a strike heavily damages the motive system. The Locusts split up, with one moving for the rendezvous and the other intending to bring the other units out to flee. As the vehicle convoy begins to emerge, Priam Company's Orion volleys LRMs over the buildings in an indirect attack. The missiles tear into the rear of the Saladin, destroying it completely. The Ostroc finds the rebel Hatchetman squaring off with it, and opens up its lasers into the smaller 'Mech. Almost without looking, the Orion seems to casually add its autocannon as a punctuation, blowing a considerable hole in the right torso.

The Stingers immediately start running for the rendezvous location, with the other Condor in pursuit. The Whitworth and Wolverine continue to fire on the hovercraft, which takes a less than favorable counter to this strategy. The turret shifts, and then opens fire into the building - the damage is enough to cause a collapse under the combined weight of the two 'Mechs, which in turn take considerable damage from the impact.

Turn 3

(Image Link: North)
The Ostroc stood its ground as the Hatchetman attempted to charge directly into it, releasing a full 'Alpha Strike' with all its weapons. The Medium 'Mech went down hard, and stayed down as the Orion walked past the motionless metallic form. It focused fire on the Locust with its autocannon, tearing through the back armor and out through the front. With severe motive damage, the Condor wheeled around to pursue the Javelin and Firestarter. The tank crew took the opportunity to open fire on the rear of the Javelin, similarly dealing incredible damage and forcing the Javelin to the ground. The 'MechWarrior inside decided survival was more important, and surrendered.

(Image Link: South)
The Black Knight and Warhammer both finally were entering range of the escaping units, with the Black Knight moving to take point. It employed its PPC and Large Lasers to break down the fleeing Whitworth, while the Wolverine, Locust, and Saracen had a clear exit from the battlefield. The vehicle convoy's other components chose to take a longer path, in the hopes they could outmaneuver Priam Company's assets to get to a clear path.

Turn 4

(Image Link)
The Condor inside the storage facility took a risky maneuver on the roads, unable to keep control of the hovercraft and crashing against a building. The risk and damage paid off, as this allowed them to fire on the Maxim transport. This time, it seemed Priam Company would stop a fleeing transport vehicle, as the motive system was almost completely destroyed.
The Firestarter and Griffin regroup behind the rubble of the collapsed buildings, taking shots at the advancing Heavy 'Mechs. Naturally, the Black Knight and Warhammer return fire, likewise failing to land hits. The second Condor attempts to cut across the escape route, its weapons landing into the Firestarter but proving insufficient to stop it yet.

Turn 5

(Image Link)
The Condor still active within the storage facility begins searching for the remaining storage units owned by Lady Wallings, as the Bulldog tank attempts to make an exit. It is cut off by the Ostroc, and opts not to push its luck against the Heavy 'Mech; it powers down and signals surrender. Likewise, an ill-advised attempt by the Firestarter to evade the Condor hounding it lands it directly in the path of three Heavy 'Mechs. It, also, powers down rather than seek glorious destruction. However, the Packrat and Griffin are soon unable to be intercepted, moving on to their rendezvous while Priam Company secures the surrendered enemies.

Aftermath

The swift and timely reaction to the intelligence allowed Priam Company to mount a successful operation to contain most of the rebel forces. However, the escaping units did manage to take with them key information which would make it much harder to track down Lady Wallings. Priam Company took charge of three BattleMechs and the Maxim transport to bolster their own forces. The Pelea Militia took charge of the prisoners and other captured equipment, intending to show rebellion was not a viable option in the long term.
