He loves bright colours. Particularly orange. They like their appearance to give off an Evocation Teacher vibe, which they very much achieve. Orange was also their dead Evocation teacher Barnaby's favourite colour.

Personal history

Rodrigo was born in the Farlands to a family of Elementals, by the name Roselia. They were born female and they were a very happy child. Later in life however, Rodrigo started to feel like something was off. They starting thinking about their body in ways they hadn't before and they stopped feeling comfortable in their own skin. By this time, they were 15 and they realised that they felt they didn't fit in the gender binary. This was when they came out as genderfluid and changed their name to Rodrigo. Their family wasn't accepting of this at first, and found it hard that they use all pronouns, but they worked hard to educate their parents and soon they begun accepting that their child was genderfluid and they began to respect that. It took them 3 years to educate their parents and let them see they are no different now, than when they were a girl.
This took a lot of mental effort and trauma to go through, but they felt it was worth it for the support of their family, and they were lucky to have a family that was willing to be openminded, albeit very slowly. However things were never the same between Rodrigo and their parents; they lost that closeness they once had due to their bad reaction to begin with. If they were just accepting at the start maybe things would've been different. It made it a bit easier that they were boarding at the Manaweaver Academy as it meant their parents lived all the away in the Farlands whilst they lived at the academy.
They focused heavily on their studies as a distraction from their homelife, and it also helped that the Manaweaver Academy was fully accepting of this change as they came out whilst studying there. They loved their time at the Manaweaver Academy and cherished their friendship with a particular teacher, the Headteacher of Evocation, Professor Barnaby Fouwll. He supported Rodrigo throughout their transition and became almost a second father to them. Rodrigo excelled at evocation and because of this Barnaby taught them the knowledge they needed to know to become a Master in Evocation. They were very upset when, just after Rodrigo finished their exams, Barnaby died of a heart attack. But Rodrigo took the exams they needed to take to become a Master in Evocation and they took over Barnaby's role as Head of Evocation. They felt very honoured to follow in his footsteps, and it really meant a lot to them that the Headmaster, Cedrick, believed in them.

She studied Evocation and Illusion at the Manaweaver Academy. She was very smart and was top of her class. Once she graduated, she took over as Head of Evocation after the previous Evocation teacher, her Evocation teacher Barnaby Fouwll, died. She felt a great honour to be placed in his role as she had a vast amount of respect for him and had built a very close relationship with him during her time at the academy. He was the reason she could become a teacher straight after graduation, although she never expected to take his place. He taught her what she needed to know to become a Master of Evocation and she will forever be grateful for that.

Mental Trauma

As a teen he had a difficult relationship with his parents. They found it hard to accept his gender identity and he has a lot of anger about this. His parents initial reaction shocked him as he expected them to love him for who he is, not turn on him like they did. Despite this, he still had the patience and acceptance to wait for them to understand and see he is no different, and although they accept him now, that doesn't just get rid of all the trauma they put him through. He tries his hardest to channel his anger into passion but sometimes he can't keep it in. He has never, and would never, have an outburst in front of his students, they only seem to happen to his boyfriend who is very understanding and helps him work through these episodes.

Morality & Philosophy

Rodrigo has a very positive attitude to life, they believe anyone can change for the better and every single person has potential. He saw the potential in his own parents and it paid off. This helps them be a good teacher and push the students to their fullest. Despite being an angry person, they learned to control it very well and use that anger as passion for teaching. They have a lot of energy and are very loud and enthusiastic which the students love.
