Auiantum Feathers

Birds of a Feather

Some might claim that auiantum feathers are very last year, but they've clearly not seen the wide array of new colors we've found. Look at these ones here, found on birds from haunted Lutonia. Doesn't the white shimmer look ghostly? Or this blue-green from Boreanna. The perfect touch to your outfit, if I do say so myself.

Appearance

Auiantum come in many shapes and sizes, and their feathers follow this variation. At first glance, they might all seem identical However, all of them posses a shine in the light. This shine comes from a clear coating that helps the birds trap heat and stay warm. This irridescence is what draws so many people to use their feathers as an accent in their outfits. The dark base color of the feather does not clash with the rest of the clothing, while the shine can provide a pop of color.

Meaning and Use

Ilysium

In the Capital, where Auiantum are rare, it is common to adorn garments with the feathers as a sign of mild wealth. Nobility would not use them, instead prefferring the much rarer feathers of the Accipeter or, if extremely wealthy, the Selxus. Among the commoners, however, it shows the ability both to acquire things shipped from the colonies and to tailor their garments.

Colonies

Among the Colonies, Auiantum are often kept as pets, though on a few islands the population has grown out of control. Regardless, their feathers make for good insulation against the cold, and are used to line blankets and clothing. As such, they aren't usually seen, but they are certainly present.
