The Imaginary Guard

Remember them not

One day I came home, and this painting was there. One might assume that it is of my son, but I have no sons, only daughters. How strange.
— Adulescens Drusillus
Everything about the Imarginary Guard is impossible to know. Their existence can be inferrered, but even the adjacent evidence listed below is easily forgotten. This is likely due to a very powerful Purgeblood Sorceror, who keeps this information well-hidden. It is also possible that every member of this protective force is a Purgeblood, and their abilities compound to make even related facts slip from memory.

House Avisong

The members of House Avisong, particularly the Crown Princess, do not have any apparent bodyguards. They are often seen in public, and are almost always alone. On three recorded occasions, a member of House Avisong was attacked.
  • 37th Zenith, 43 RA. Emperor Avisong IV's skiff was attacked outside of Fort Aurum. The skiff had scorch markings on its side from the sparklock fire, and it set down and stayed out of the sky for several minutes. However, no one recorded it being fired upon or any attacker being present.
  • 211th Nadir, 49 RA. During an event greeting the public with his young daughter and wife, the Emperor and his family rushed inside the palace before fires erupted all over the gardens. Several people were killed during the blaze, because no one was able to leave despite there not being any gate or doors on the gardens.
  • 71st Zenith, 56 RA. The young Crown Princess, on her first solo public outing, was swarmed by a crowd of admirers. While not strictly an attack, no one was able to get close enough to touch her.

Disappearances

The Empire has, on occassion, gotten rid of people that have been causing problems. Usually, this is achieved by 'finding other crimes they are committing', or definining something else they are doing as illegal. However, there have been a few cases where the names, crimes, and other details of criminals have been completely expunged from the records. Most notably, there have been no traitors to the Empire for the past 30 years, despite information being leaked to the Trade Union several times.

General Information

The following information is based on the Imperial Guard, who the Imaginary Guard is assumed to be a subset.
Manpower: ~100
Equipment: Insulated steel armor
Weaponry: Sparklocks and Blades

Other Tasks

It is entirely possible that the Imaginary Guard functions as an elite strike force for the Empire. However, due to the impossibility of knowing any more about them, it is likewise impossible to tell. Based on what is apparent about them, if they were to perform an assasination, no one would remember their victim.
