What can be said of Dick Punch, a halfling with a most unhalfling name? He wants you to think he is tough, self confident, loudmouthed even brash and perhaps closer to a dwarf than a halfling.
Yet despite the posturing, he is yet another impoverished itinerant worker trying to make ends meet by travelling from place to place doing odd jobs and earning merely enough to survive. Everything from helping out with harvests to mushroom gathering to working on building sites, and mostly hunting rats and other pests. Perhaps his greatest skill is hunting small mammals such as rabbits, squirrels and the ever present scourge that are rats.
Like any halfling and especially a poor one, he is largely ignored by the taller races. The world is full of the poor and they blend into the general environment, like the ever present stench of horse excrement and the weathered wood of so many hovels.
And if anyone where to bother paying attention to this little fellow, they would notice he prefers to sit in dark corners of an inn, that he occasionally glances over his shoulder and that his eyes display genuine terror when unknown armed ruffians are present. They would ask why would a halfling prefer to sleep in a little tent in dark forests or woods well outside of towns and villages, even when a good day’s rat hunting has earned enough for a warm bed at an inn.
Perhaps there is more to Dick Punch than merely an idiotic name.
