Although great warrior, Suriel was more at home in the wilds, tracking and hunting, and being one with nature, constantly testing her mettle against the wilderness. However what came naturally to her one day came to an end.   Suriel’s small Herd roamed the Ashkeeper Peaks and she was their most fearsome fighter and capable survivor. To her great misfortune, following an encounter with a menacing dragon youngling that attacked her goliath Herd, she lost most of her teeth and broke her jaw. The Herd had no healers that could cure the injury immediately and the pain assailing her would not abide. This crippling disability meant that she could no longer survive in the harsh, desolate mountains where food was tough (and the art of dentistry non-existent).
Deciding she did not want to be a burden to the Herd, she chose to leave in the middle of one night, rather than face a life time of eating pre-chewed food that her Herd offered.   Suriel then spent time wandering around the various cities by the Cyrious Mountains, such a Nicodranas and Feolinn, looking for a solution to her pain, but found that the locals generally kept clear of her, presumably on account of her fearsome scars and impressive height. It was not uncommon that she was greeted with cries of fear, which after a time made her retreat into a quiet, unassuming person. She learnt to be observant and watchful but trying to take up as little space as possible.
Such experiences travelling around the cities had led her to try and fit in, although mostly unsuccessfully. She often tried to hide her isolationist tendencies through “city speak” that she had observed through the years, yet didn't fully understand the social conventions which took place in such cities.   Being so far away from her Herd, the goliath picked up a nervous habit of fiddling with things and accidentally breaking. She also developed a fondness for mead and ale, indeed anything that would drown the pain of her jaw and the loss of her Herd. If anything positive came from this was that Suriel could take on drinking challenges that usually won her coin to pay for lodgings and food.   Unless she felt threatened or was tasked with a job or obligation, then she was a fearsome warrior ready to do what must be done.   More than anything, Suriel wished to find someone who could fix her teeth and be able to bite into a delicious steak of meat. She told herself that one day when she found a great set of false teeth that suited her, she would return to the Herd and take her rightful place as prime defender and warrior once again.   But while she waited for this monumental event to occur, she was currently in Crenda on a month-long drinking binge to numb the pain, or failing that, a quest or band of travelers to move on with. She knew that a lone Goliath was generally a dead one.

Epilogue

Following the defeat of the Redbrand Ruffians in Port Damali, Suriel left the group of adventurers and sought false teeth on her own.
