Special Dice Rolls
Mid-vantage
When a roll has both advantage and disadvantage, instead of rolling one die, roll three. If the results of all the d20s are different, use the result of the die that has the middle value. If you roll the same number on two of the dice, use that value as the result of the roll.
Emphasis Roll
When asked to roll with emphasis a player rolls 2 d20 and takes the result that is furthest away from 10 before modifiers. This type of roll may be asked for when the character is attempting to do something that is likely to definitively succeed or dramatically fail and most importantly where middling results are unlikely.
You cannot roll with emphasis if you have advantage or disadvantage. If a player does have advantage or disadvantage for whatever reason that supersedes the emphasis roll and they would simply ignore the emphasis roll (This includes inspiration but cards that allow for advantage to be applied after the roll is seen CANNOT be used on emphasis rolls.
In the case where both rolls are equidistant from 10 take higher number is taken. For example, if a 7 and 13 are rolled the player would use the 13.
