Lion Chariot

A Lion Chariot is one of the most lavish means of transport in Valgalia. This is commonly found within the Summer Cities, especially transport between the cities by important people and leaders.   The Summer Cities specialised in animal trade and slavery, one of the most prominent animals they use are lions. They created the Lion Chariot and use them frequently.   Smaller chariots are pulled by two lions only and carry 2 passengers. There is always a driver and a lion keeper on board. There are larger ones which may need 4-6 lions pulling it. These carriages may carry 3-4 adults or 6 children and have room for a small amount of luggage.   The keeper has the role of taking care of the lions, feeding them and whipping them if required. They are specially trained for this position.   Lion chariots are very expensive as meat is also required to fuel the lions and keep them tamed. These are usually a status of wealth and power within the Summer Cities. It is rare to see them elsewhere, however, sometimes they can be seen being used by Kings that need to travel between cities and kingdoms, often used to demonstrate his/her power and status to rivals and enemies.   It is wise to only use male lions for this job as they are stronger and females will only distract the males. The females are also needed in the cities for breeding purposes.
