Jacques Schnee

I am to this day waiting for someone to explain me what her father did that he deserves this terrible treatment from the fan base or Weiss. What did he really do? Run some small businesses out of competition? Not really evil considering how big the company is. Paying low wages? His wages are normalized for the area, so at worst his employees need to unionize. Not evil. He is mean to his daughter? So at worst he is a man more focused on his business than his family. The first thing we even see winter do is being a dick to her sister.   Looking back on Vol 4, Jacques was stupidly patient with Weiss. It was only after she accidentally lost control of her summon (almost killing a party goer who held a different opinion), and insulted her father in public that he decided to actually ground her.   Another thing to think about is does Weiss have the business sense and knowledge to run a company like the SDC? She can certainly fight, but what about things more relevant to running a business like wisdom, risk management, resource allocation, etc.?   How would an discussion between Jacques Schnee and Ghira Belladonna look like? By having Jacques point out that he pays both his human and Faunus miners equally and points to how Ilia, the very same White Fang terrorist that tried to assassinate Ghira (but gets undeservedly and instantly forgiven because apparently lesbians and LGBT can do no wrong). He points out that Ilia's parents were paid enough that they could afford to send Ilia to an Atlas private civilian prep school. So arguments about how he pays his Faunus miners like shit kind of fall flat.   Ghira: Uh...yeah, I got nothing. I have to admit, he does have a point.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

You don't need magical racism to have a revolution. SDC's practices are enough to foment revolutionaries without any race distinctions at all.   I liked how the writers originally set him up in Volume 1 with how he wasn't naturally an angry man, but after losing friends and family as well as employees and business partners to the White Fang he naturally became colder and harsher, and probably more protective of his children, who in Weiss' case blamed the terrorists and defended her father.

Education

Jacques Schnee?   Jacques “tell my daughter she has to stay in her room and then leave her with her weapons and ammo” Schnee?   Jacques “let my daughter sing about how much I suck at a public charity event I’m hosting” Schnee?   Jacques “not going to have any competent security while my most powerful associate is in my house and my daughter is trying to sneak out” Schnee?   THAT Jacques Schnee? HE’S your top pick?

Morality & Philosophy

These fan-contents capture the spirit of this character: Fanfiction "I'm Not Perfect".   “In a similar vein, I liked your own portrayal of Weiss’ father. Back when we only had Volume 1 to go by, it was up in the air on what exactly he was like, aside from Weiss’ comment that his anger with the White Fang made for a “difficult childhood” for her. Your characterization of Abel Schnee is one of my favorites: a strong, powerful man driven to succeed and has high expectations for his daughter, but genuinely loves her.”   The Schnees have butlers and servants that affect the characterization and character development of each of the Schnee family members in different ways, like the Zoldyck servants do for the Zoldyck family in Hunter x Hunter. These seven servants allude to the seven dwarfs from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Klein does not exist in this AU. Looking back on Vol 4, Jacques was stupidly patient with Weiss. Jacques makes a fair argument to Ruby that her desire to remain being a huntress is what is keeping Weiss to be a huntress, and thus putting her at risk. He even proposes to give Ruby a job at the SDC so Weiss can return home. This shakes Ruby’s belief but does not destroy it. When reflecting on this, Ruby apologizes to Weiss about putting her in more danger, which Weiss responds by giving her a Dope Slap and saying that she wants to be with her friends, nobody is forcing her.
Children
Character Prototype
Mother Isabella from The Promised Neverland is the ‘controlling, abusive parent villain’, that RWBY was trying to go for with Jacques, done right.
