Hidden Paradise
No, it is not a place for religious fanatics. That would be quite the opposite thing from paradise.People are always looking for a better place to be. Especially people that believe they deserve more than the others, and everyone comes up with their own reasons as to why. No wonder that Lost Paradise, a mythical land where all things are great, is such a topic of obsession and hope for many. Wouldn't you like to live in a fertile lands so fertile one acre can feed a family, with beautiful scenery and kind people? Some people think it is a literal heaven on earth, reserved for only the most noble and pious of souls. Others suspect Lost Paradise to be simply an extremely well-off colony, hidden away from all governments. The path to it is secret, entrusted only to a number of hand-picked captains. Sometimes, the ships they captain leave for New World with settlers and cargo on board, and then return laden with gold and jewels.
The Shepherds
Our job is to guide your path, not move obstacles out of it.How are they chosen? By whom? And what for? Nobody knows answers to these questions, and Shepherds themselves just smile meaningfully and tell long elaborate stories supposedly meant to give guidance and inspiration to people. Works for some, not so much for the others. No direct question ever gets a direct answer, and this air of mysteriousness only serves to draw more people into the idea. Even some high-ranking nobles are said to be enchanted by the mystery of Lost Paradise. There are many ways to get information out of someone: spying, stealing, getting them drunk. Rumour has it, on several occasions people have attempted to kidnap one of the Shepherds. On one such occasion a Shepherd's ship was even attacked the official privateers by government letters of marque! All to no avail. One cannot help but wonder what is so important to those people they would risk anything to protect it.
