Jeanne Antoinette de la Barre

Madame Jeanne Antoinette de la Barre

"Jeanette" is the last person you'd ever think of meeting on the seas, but yet here she stays, along with her trusty maid Gabrielle. She is rather plain looking, but her aristocratic bearing is impossible to hide, be it the way she walks or speaks. What she lacks in beauty, however, she more than compensates with her lovely singing voice, which has opened for her many noble residences far and wide. She makes it a point to never have any weapons on her, but that doesn't make her harmless nor weak. When the rumours about her cards begin to spread, it is time for this young Kosari aristocrat to move on. Sometimes it seems, though, that there is a lot more that she's running away from.

Contacts & Relations

Miguel Alvaréz Evaristo (Confidant) He is the first captain with whom she'd sailed and who was paid to babysit watch over her and make sure she will not get eaten by sharks (metaphorical or real ones) as soon as they get a chance. Despite their differences they got along pretty well.   Angélique Montmorell (Ally) Angélique is a well-regarded, competent midwife who is running her own little circle of nurses and attendants in Sol Meridia. She is also a master sorte witch and it was her who took Jeanne under her wings and taught her the basics of her craft.

Constantly on the move, with sweet songs on her lips, Madame de la Barre is hiding many secrets behind her young plain face and graceful bearing. Her eyes have seen the fates of many & magic is known to leave deep scars.

Tour de Blanchport

Ma chère Madame ████████████,   I'm pleased to inform you that I have started to work on my Manuscript today, which will be dedicated to your illustrious self. One reason being that I found the maps of the local merchants severely lacking and at least I shall put my free time to good use and practice of worthy skills. Second reason being that following the events of this day, I feel like I personally know every single little pathway in Blanchport and its surroundings. Not a pleasant experience, even on horseback, but alas our investigation proved fruitful and that is what matters. And the weather was quite nice as well.   Though glad I will bid this place good bye very soon, I wish one had more time to peruse it's beaches instead of trying to converse with sailors of dubious quality. Oh, how I miss the palace gardens. No flowers shall compare.
Votre ami dévouée Jeanette   P.S. The light of music has touched even the most forgotten corners of Blanchport, but its people were blinded by ignorance for too long. And desperately need to be educated about the proper punctuation. It makes my heart ache to experience first hand how lacking the education of the poor truly is.

Mission Accomplished

Madame,   they might not know good music, but they surely are well versed in good wine. I hope the bottle I have send your way will reach you safely.
Ne regrette rien, Jeanette

When In Doubt: Throw a Party

Ma chère Madame ████████████,   there are many challenges a lady of proper breeding must face when partaking in a long voyage. Getting stuck on a small insignificant island being one prime example. I hope it will please you to learn that I had made a couple of new acquaintances! I was sceptical at first, especially at the sight of the dingy inn cozy little place I had the fortune of meeting them, but alas, looks can be rather deceiving and it soon proved that fate truly was on my side and guided my steps in the right direction.   I shall not bore you with the details of our newest endeavour, but rest assured that the inhabitants of this rather small and bland island will soon discover the pleasures one can find when listening to music of quality. I pity these poor people, having never the opportunity to lose themselves while hearing the heavenly sounds of strings. That will be rectified soon enough and the light of pure bliss will touch even the most forgotten and the... coziest of places on this tiny bit of ground lost in the vast blue ocean.   But first, we need to decorate our boat!   I will forever hold in my heart all the sacrifices you had made in order for me to be here and will be repaying your good graces as long as I will breathe.
Votre ami dévouée Jeanette
P. S. Avoid the turtle soup.
