Planus Common Calendar

Months

Zerano

Start of the year with its wide variety of new year celebrations across Planus. The days between Zerano and Basysus are considered the clearest of the year. Best for star charting and watching.

Basysus

End of snowwake or winter.

Medilus

Start of coldwane or spring.

Hyraea

Mid spring and a time of rebirth and renewal festivals, such as the Springtide Festival in Ishnanor.

Thalare

End of coldwane or spring.

Amates

Start of rimewake or summer.

Darolio

Mid rimewake and the longest days of the year.

Laodea

End of rimewake or summer.

Boreon

Start of amberrule or fall.

Galadia

Mid amberrule and harvest season. Festivals are plentiful across the settlements in the far reaches of Planus.

Nemien

End of amberrule or fall.

Alcorus

Start of snowwake or winter. This has the coldest days of the year with aggressive thundersnow storms that move across the plains.

Days and Time of Day

Days on Awldor begin and end at midnight. A single day is 24 hours in length.

Seasons

The Planus locals, specifically the centaur tribes, still will use the ancient terms below. But they are used interchangably with the more common names of winter, spring, summer, and fall.

Snowwake

Winter, with winter solstice holidays and festivals.

Coldwane

Spring, long considered a time of rebirth.

Rimewake

Summer, with its sweltering heat on the flat plains of Planus.

Amberrule

Fall or autumn where the leaves turn, days get cooler and shorter. Mid Amberrule is the time of harvest in many locations on Planus.

Lorekeeper Notes

It's interesting, until Windtracer Tela Kioni brought back the Chasm Papers from the Long Deep. I never thought much about the names of the months. - Lorekeeper Ihodis Jenro   Or the days! I knew many had the sound of Jatari and other centaur dialects. I just never thought they might be related. - Lorekeeper Gwelunis Istril   But it was obvious. - Lorekeeper Rudigar Brockhouse   What? - Lorekeeper Gwelunis   Rudigar ... you're saying that you knew this the entire time? Translated the names and didn't mention it to anyone? - Lorekeeper Ihodis   I thought everyone knew! After all, the centaur tribes have been here much longer than anyone else. It only stands to reason their cultural thumbprint would be stamped across a concept as old and fundamental as a calendar. - Lorekeeper Brockhouse   Gwelunis... I believe he makes a good point there - Lorekeeper Ihodis   Yes, he does, and that's unusual. You seem rather clear-headed this morning, Rudigar - Lorekeeper Gwelunis   But of course! With coffee and cookies, I’m rather bright! - Lorekeeper Rudigar Brockhouse

Good article buddy, I do like a good world Calendar. Also, I like the fact that Centaurs had a major influence. I'm not sure if I said before, that Centaurs are one of my favourite Races.   Aemon

Thanks! Somehow once I get a good calendar in place, so much of the world just clicks into view.   And I'm right with you on Centaurs. They get such a bad rep or forgotten in RPG settings. I think that's why I'll have them be so very very prominent in Planus continent in Windtracer
