Estmerian Religion
Structure
The organizers of the Sindarm religion are loosely organized. One of the stricter tenents of the faith is compliance with local law, which resulted historically in a close connection between the Sindarm faith and the local old empire
Public Agenda
To make better citizens, at peace with the authorities above them, and at equilibrium with the world around themselves.
History
The original focus of the religion within the old empire was upon maintaining equilibrium with the world. This had several facets. A person needed to be in balance with the nature they were exposed to, be this wilderness or city center. The person then needed to placate and remain connected to his ancestors, who in turn would assist him or her in staying in balance with nature. Finally the person must work well with the people around him.
This last bit was emphasized by the old empire governmental systems. This resulted in the tenant of working in conjunction with others to become valued higher than the others, even though that was not the true teaching. Over time the emphasis on the tenant also shifted from working with those around you, to obeying and abiding by the laws set fourth by the old empire. While this was beneficial to maintain a solid rule, especially among the people not directly of the old empire but connected to them as auxiliaries, it also debased the intended message.
Mythology & Lore
The mythology of the Estmerian mythology is that the world is filled with spirits. Nature spirits, planner spirits, spirits of the dead, ancestor spirits, and of course animal spirits. These spirits will latch onto aspects of the world, usually certain facets of natural landscapes, but buildings or certain ways of life can also develop a spirit presence.
The second aspect to the mythology is that a person must be in balance in order to be able to commune with the spirit realm, being in balance involves providing offerings and obeying the legal system.
