Lighthouse of Sidmar
A strange and ancient light house outside the city of Sidgard. Used as a critical navigation point to reach the port of Sidgard.
Purpose / Function
The purpose of the structure is unknown. Believed by some to have been constructed by the Dragonborn in some long lost age. The sure thickness of the foundational walls has raised speculations among some scholarly groups of some kind of martial building, perhaps a fortress or safe hold. Others believe that it is more likely some form of temple, as is common when finding large structures built by ancient human societies.
Alterations
The stone foundations were restored to the best of the ability of the Estmerian people, at times aided by old empire architects. Upon the foundation was constructed a multiple storied wooden tower, from which a fire is lit each night or on those spring and summer days when the fog sets in from the sea.
Architecture
The old foundation is made up of over a hundred stone pillars average three to four feet thick each. The original ruins contained more but they were cannibalized to repair the primary center of the structure and for other structures within the city of Sidgard that formed adjacent to the ancient structure. The stone walls, which only extended maybe twelve feet off the ground, were nearly seven feet thick. Constructed of impossibly large shaped stone. More titanic stone blocks can be found buried and strewn around the area, clearly once being part of this ancient structure.
History
The foundations of this structure were found upon arrival of the auxiliaries of the old empire when they first traveled to Ethilia. The true age of the structure is unknown, the native Wilscan people spoke of the structure being once impossibly tall, filled with uncountable numbers of pillars and walls so thick that even the gods could not break through them.
