The King Whom Must Not Be Named

There is a particular entity out there that must never have it's name be spoken of. This entity has existed since before the dawn of the Nephilim, before the Stars, and has always lived in the darkness of everyone's minds. This entity might be a king. It might be something else, much worse. Whatever it is, it's name must never be uttered.

The King Whom Must Not Be Named is spoken of in hushed tale across the ages. Humanity's first exposure to it was in the Star Mythology book, wherupon it had it's name plastered on the history about the pre-Star era, in the section about the 10,000 Days. Soon afterward, it's believed that anyone who read and spoke about it would suffer from various injuries and fits of madness.

The author of Star Mythologies was said to have been hospitalized soon after the publication of his book. No one's quite certain as to what happened to him, only that he began to have fits of night terrors and would hallucinate various things around his home. At one point, he was quoted as saying that he had felt as though he was constantly being watched. Further question would only prompt his response:

It became me. And I have become it.

Although vague references and offhand mentions of the name are considered acceptable, the very notion of saying it's name or directly referring to it's appearance is said to be an idea that must never be brought up or discussed. It is a cursed name, believed that it's mere mention is enough to draw it's attention to you and make it aware of you. That is how the Stars have put it, anyhow.

And if it becomes aware of you, it becomes you. You become it.

It knows you. It knows all of your worlds. It's the primordial darkness and emptiness that exists between everything. And all it can do is spread. That's all it knows.


The Nightmare King sees you. It becomes you.
