Alchemy

Alchemy by-and-large uses the same rules laid out by Artifice, referring specifically to the production of potions and poisons. This passage serves to highlight a few rules unique to these items.

Potions

A character proficient with alchemist’s supplies may attempt to create a Fused Potion instead of creating a potion following the more standardized recipes normally offered. A Fused Potion is the result of mixing two potions together to create unique and potent results.   To create a fused potion, you must already have the potions you wish to mix together as part of your crafting check. Once used, no matter the outcome, the original potions are irrecoverably destroyed in the process. The DC for your check is based on the combined book value of all potions being mixed together. If you fail the check, the mixture is rendered inert and loses all magical properties. For better or worse, it’s now no different than dirty water and otherwise worthless. However, on a success, roll a d100 and note the result in your inventory (do also note the potions used to create the Fused Potion, as this is relevant). For example: Fused Potion(36) (Healing, Heroism)   If the result of your d100 check is a 1, however, the magic overreacts and explodes catastrophically in your force, replicating the effects of a Lingering Injury to be treated at your discretion. You’re free to pick from the list of injuries or reach out to Chromatian Staff for something more to your liking for the purposes of roleplay.   Alternatively, if the result of your d100 check is a 100 something special may result from your mixture, an effect your character will immediately recognize but not know until they actually drink the potion. In these circumstances, let a staff member know so they can determine the appropriate outcome.   Yes, you are free to mix Fused Potions together with other Fused Potions. The effects can potentially be cumulative, so continue to note what all has gone into the mixture as it increases.   Lastly, a Fused Potion always weighs a half pound, no matter how many potions were mixed in to produce it. Any fluid in excess of 1 fluid ounce is assumed to be lost in the mixing process for one reason or another.

Poisons

A character proficient with a poisoner’s kit may attempt to create poisons as offered by the below list, or harvest poison from a poisonous creature (such as a snake, wyvern, or carrion crawler) provided the creature is incapacitated or dead (DC = 10 + 1/2 CR rounded down). A success produces enough poison for a single dose, whereas a failure by 5 or more instead poisons the crafter from accidental exposure.   Expand the below list for known poisons in Chromatia and their prices. If you’re looking for a specific effect not covered by one of the below options, make a request in #ask-a-gan and staff will decide whether its possible and, if so, add it to the list.   * Oh no! Your poisons table appears to be on vacation. Tell that lazy bastard to get back here.
