Discord

In theory, Discord as a tool should go without saying. You wouldn’t be here if you weren’t already on Discord, the chat application we use to coordinate game play and out-of-character (OOC) chatter. Everything related to the game is based out of Discord, so the very least you need to be able to do is know how to navigate Discord. Our server is organized around two core concepts in roleplay – IC (in-character) and OOC (out-of-character). IC channels are those where you are expected to post as and communicate as your character through roleplay. Out-of-character, on the other hand, is where players can chat with each other candidly.   Other channels and categories may come and go in the future to fit the needs of the server. If you’re ever not sure where you’re allowed to play and where you can go to chat, check with staff or your peers first.

OOC Categories

  • Server Info. Administrative channels used for announcements, notifications, and updates can be found here.
  • The Wizipedia. Quick access to important game tools, references, and this guide. The #ask-a-gan channel is found here, your number one resource for rule checks, clerical questions, or anything else you need administrative support from.
  • Meet the DMs. We try to be visible for players, so players know what to expect when playing with individual game masters. We also list which NPCs we individually manage, so if you need to speak with a particular NPC or would like to coordinate something greater, check the lists here.
  • General Chats. For everything and anything that comes to mind. Make sure to pay attention to the channel topic and avoid spamming unrelated subjects in the wrong channels.
  • Character Zone. Most of the clerical work around creating, planning, and managing your character and character sheet is done here. We’ve also provided channels for players to chat and theorize about builds and lore. It’s worth nothing that a space for IC journals has been provided here, for players who want a space to roleplay their characters sharing their own thoughts and opinions as if writing in a diary or something similar.
  • The Marketboard. Anything that has to do with the transfer or exchange of goods, funds, or services is gathered here. Purchasing or selling items, including by, for, and between other players, is posted here so staff can log everything as needed.
  • Gathering Hub. Here, game masters (staff and miscellania alike) plan and schedule quests and social encounters. This is also where game masters post quest rewards, so be sure to check back periodically whenever you finish a mission.
  • Archives. Old channels no longer in use go here, and in time IC contents will be transferred to #quest-archives so the content can be saved after the original channel is deleted. This doesn’t happen often, and we’ll usually broadcast when channels are being archived so you know where to find old content if/when you need it.

IC Categories

  • Hero’s Guild. The main play area for players in Chromatia. If you’re looking to socialize, this is among the best places to do so.
  • Player Housing. Players have the option of spending their gold on personal channels for their characters. Those channels are stored here, and the player who owns the channel is the defacto game master for that specific area, with full and complete control over what happens in the area.
  • Chromatia. The bulk of gameplay and missions are hosted in these channels – this represents the world of Chromatia and the many environments that span the globe.
  • The Planes. Whenever a mission, social encounter, or other scenario takes us off world to another place, or even to a realm adjacent to our world, like the Feywilds or the Shadowfell, it will be hosted here.
  • Other. Occasionally, there are specific places that do not exist in a place that can be defined, and thus cannot be defined themselves.
