Sheriff Angela Taylor

A portrait of Angela Taylor by artist Nirmala Handapangoda

There is little known of Angela Rose Taylor prior to the events of March 27th 1986. A standout at the Victorian Police academy, Angela was seen by her instructors as someone on the brink of a stellar career within the Victorian Police Force.
On the 27th of March 1986, Angela (21 years old at the time) was crossing the street to buy lunch for her colleagues on her first shift at the watchouse at Police Headquarters. She walked out onto Russell Street walking within a meter of a 1979 Commodore filled with gelegnite, which detonated as Angela passed. While she was in the hospital dying of her wounds, a Toreador nurse took pity upon her.

Angela Taylor was pronounced dead on the 20th of April 1986, the first female police officer in Australia to be killed while on duty. Her unlife began the following day.

Angela's superb abilities which made her stand out so brightly as a recruit shone like a blinding light thanks to the powers that come with the curse of Caine. Within 10 days of her awakening, her heightened senses and skills tracked down and directed police from the shadows to those who responsible for "taking her life." The four were ghouls of Sabbat origin trying to strike against Camarilla held police assets. This fast and accurate work earned her a place amongst the Prince's hounds.
In 1995, after a disagreement between the previous Sheriff and Prince Leslie "Squizzy" Taylor left the position open, Taylor promoted Angela to the role of Sherriff, making her the youngest Kindred to hold the position in Melbourne's history.
While there have been rumblings in Kindred society that the promotion was given by the Prince so that he may groom, exert control over and ultimately neutralize what he perceived as a threat, Angela has served Melbourne faithfully since her promotion.

Angela, much like she did in life, champions causes that makes her society a better place. Oddly it has been noted that she is also supportive those doing everything they can to fight against Final Death, be it via action, political maneuvers, even flight. It was noted by several of the Gangrel in attendance at an execution in the early 2000's that she brought the condemned (a Thin-Blood who had fought, bribed, rendered services to, and ultimately pleaded with the Camarilla) into an embrace and whispered inaudibly (to all but the Gangrel):

"Well done, Well done, oh child, you were magnificent. Well done."

Before stepping back and taking his head with one clean swipe of her blade.

In 2018, the Sheriff was awarded the foundling Malady Eden Norwood as a surrogate childe to teach and train, as a thanks for her almost four decades of loyal service to Melbourne.
