The Eastern Reaches

The Eastern Reaches is a region in eastern Malatata that is a rocky and hilly place. It is the home of the Arks, the sister subrace of the Orks that fought tooth and nail to make the region their home. So much death was dealt in the Arks fighting for their region, that entire large hills were dug out and hollowed into massive graves to store the corpses. These are known as Dead Mountains. The region is also riddled with ruins and ancient battlefields of both Kenari and Vardux, along with aspiring necromancers that wish to resurrect the dead for their own armies.

Geography And Environment

The Eastern Reaches is a dry, rocky, and hilly region, with very little streams and rivers going through it. This makes regions with wells to be vital to the Ark Clans, even building their entire tribe around a well and praying to it. The region features the end of the Kenbarna Mountains, with the elevation gradually sloping down the more south one goes. The dangerous wildlife poses yet another challenges for inhabitants of the region. Animals from the Great Savanah, such as lions, tigers, rhinos, elk, rams, thistlebacks, and even werebears to the west have made their way to the region. Smaller species, such as the bush-ratt and the armadillo scurry along the dry grass as well. The region also is home to some native species such as the peaceful grazing Urar, and the passive Halui.

History

The Eastern Reaches have a long history of bloodshed, dating back to the first era, with the Kenari and the Varduxian Empires fighting one another for the region, as it was a pivital piece of land that controlled the White Pass, that connects Eastern and Western Archtun. Both would see eventual failure, with both sides being weakened and the Cyclops entering the region, and easily wrestling control of the Eastern Reaches away from the two empires.
The Proving Wars woud begin around 3780 1E, after the Great Mother Sartha, after she and her many children were cursed by Meredian for eating from the sea, would move into the Eastern Reaches, away from the judgement and brutality of the Orks. Her family would grow and eventually begin to wrestle the Kenari, Vardux, and the Cyclops out of the region. The task would be devestating, with an enormous loss of life, but the Arks would be victorious and win over the region, though the Wild Orks, Cyclops from underground, and nature itself will constantly try to retake it from them.
