Obsidian

Obsidian is a volcanic glass found around Mount Platinum in Dijit. Obsidian has been mined in Dijit ever since humans first settled the area and discovered it. Obsidian is often used as a decorative gem, and was one of the main stones featured in the old crown jewels of the Kingdom of Woodangees  as well as inlayed into the old Woodangian throne, both of which are on display as Woodangian historical artifacts in the Grand Royal Palace of Rotelkon. Obsidian is also featured in various other royal era artifacts, such as several pieces of jewelry from the old ruling families of Dijit, Panders, and Niccadia.

History

Obsidian was originally used for blades and weapons due to its tendency to break into sharp pieces, but due to its appaerance has been used as a gem as well.

It is still used in some traditional knives to this day, such as those used by Dijitian fishermen, or in crafts and jewelry.

Being found in multiple cultural artifacts like the old royal throne and crown jewels of Woodangees, obsidian holds some cultural significance to the people of Woodangees, especially the province of Dijit, where it can be found.

Obsidian can be chipped into sharp fragments that can be used as blades.

being glass once obsidian is shipped or broken it can't really be reused. some artists have however begun experimenting with obsidian shards and powder in various mediums.
