The First Migration

Our beginnings

Some millennia ago all people still lived on a single, war-ridden planet. It was at least 2500 years before The Golden Age of Science which marked the start of the Second Universal Era. Some people today call this planet Una and like to think that it was a middle planet of one of the long-gone ancient Central Systems. The climate of the planet was harsh and produced hundreds of divided nations and languages which could not live at peace with each other. A few written sources that exist (such as The Excerpts From the First Book ) hint that while some of those nations fought for survival, the others strove for complete dominance or annihilation. It is believed that this hostile environment made the living conditions on the planet so poor that dozens of nations had to learn space travel and leave their home planet in search of safe havens.

The Ancient Pilgrims

Little is known for certain of the ancient pilgrims who were the first to leave Una . They likely traveled to one or two nearby planets and colonized them. They were not pursued by the aggressive nations of Una so they stayed there a few centuries. After they settled, that is adapting to new conditions and learning to thrive, the pilgrims began to work on expanding the range of space travel and to find a way to cross to another system. The initial decades of peace did not change their resolution to escape the troubles of Una and it quickly became a driving force behind their cooperation and everything they did.   At some point, the pilgrims invented a new telescope that let them see nearby systems in more detail. When they turned it towards Una, however, they saw how bad things progressed on their beloved home planet. It was utterly destroyed with war and they could not tell if there were any surviving factions of these wars. Finally, the pilgrims' efforts paid off at the invention of the space-bridge.
