Remnants
Remnants is the common name used for people who survived the Volcanic Winter outside of Athens. They are all thats left from the free world , still surviving against all the odds.
The Remnants make up all of the human population that took refuge underground and survived The Techno-Cataclysm.
With the weather conditions on the surface now inhabitable, the people looked towards survival underground. Some were lucky enough to have stocked doomsday bunkers nearby, others were holed up in caves or underground tunnels with nothing but their instincts to survive with.
The Remnant's time underground have created various physiological changes that define their animalistic nature: Physically, the Remnants are incredibly strong, and mainly have elongated hair, as a means of resistance to the cold. Mentally, the lack of vitamin D, the vitamin that evokes serotonin release, is all but completely gone. This has caused the Remnants to become cold, hardened people, with a distinctive lacking in empathy and acceptance of strangers. Most Remnants have forgotten the ideas of games & music; these commodities fell second to survival and, over time, were completely lost. Remnants' eyes are particularly sensitive to sunlight, and have trouble staying outside in the snow for longer than 5 hours before their eyes start to irritate and tear up. To make up for this, and to better suit their underground environment, they have an acute sense of hearing, using slightly larger evolved ears, which can hear higher frequencies than humans. Most notably, Remnants can hear infrasounds in the ground, allowing them to perceive animals and objects through vibrational patterns in the ground. This gives them natural predatorial abilities, which ensures the Remnants can find live food more often.
The cultural traits observed in Remnants will differ depending on the social structure adopted by surviviors at the time of the Cataclysm. Some Remnants have banded together into tribal systems, in an attempt to survive through strength in numbers. However, these tribes often need lots of resources (food, water, natural materials) to upkeep all of its members, which is often a source of arguments among Remnants. A large majority of Remnants have opted to face their underground surroundings alone, and rely only on themselves to survive. It is unknown how many of these "Wanderer" Remnants are alive outside of the walls, but they will rarely choose to interact with a tribe or other wanderers, usually only approaching if in dire need or to barter goods. After the Resurfacing Period, some Remnants decided to leave their underground hideouts in search of a life they used to remember, above ground. Some Remnants wander the wasteland, hoping to hunt and gather the remaining flora/fauna on the surface. Others have taken towards the wreckages and ruins of their old Earth, using the ruined buildings for protection. Of these camps, the biggest is the one in the ruins of the Athens International Airport One thing all Remnants can agree on one thing: they despise Athens. It is clear to them after resurfacing that whatever happened to their world, Athens was responsible. The tribe of Remnants inhabiting the airport are plotting to infilitrate Athens' walls, and to bring down whatever horrors lie inside.

Remnants Physical Features
During their 100 year slumber underground, many of the trapped humans began to evolve and adapt to their new environment, creating what is now known as the Remnants. Each Remnant has adapted to their individual underground situation, but most Remnants share a few common physical traits:
