Their roles and activities include:   Craftsmen of Excellence: Guild Artisans/Merchants are master craftsmen, producing goods that are known for their superior quality and craftsmanship. Whether they are blacksmiths forging enchanted weapons, jewelers crafting intricate pieces, or alchemists creating potent potions, they take pride in their work and the reputation it brings to their guild.   Shrewd Merchants: In addition to creating goods, these individuals are skilled merchants. They understand the intricacies of trade and market dynamics, and they know how to negotiate deals, set prices, and manage the sale of their wares. They might own shops, market stalls, or trade caravans, dealing in a variety of goods, from everyday items to rare and exotic merchandise.   Guild Representatives: As members of a trade guild, they often serve as representatives of their guild's interests. They may commission works of art, sponsor festivals, or support other artisans, enhancing the cultural richness of their community and raising their social standing.   Entrepreneurs and Innovators: Guild Artisans/Merchants are often at the forefront of innovation, whether it’s developing new products, experimenting with magical enhancements, or finding more efficient methods of production and trade. Their entrepreneurial spirit drives them to explore new markets and create novel goods.   Community Contributors: Their success and prosperity often translate into benefits for the community. They might fund public works, contribute to local festivals, or support charitable causes, making them respected and influential figures in society.
Guild Membership   As an established and respected member of a guild, you can rely on certain benefits that membership provides. Your fellow guild members will provide you with lodging and food if necessary, and pay for your funeral if needed. In some cities and towns, a guildhall offers a central place to meet other members of your profession, which can be a good place to meet potential patrons, allies, or hirelings. Guilds often wield tremendous political power. If you are accused of a crime, your guild will support you if a good case can be made for your innocence or the crime is justifiable. You can also gain access to powerful political figures through the guild, if you are a member in good standing. Such connections might require the donation of money or magic items to the guild’s coffers. You must pay dues of 5 gp per month to the guild. If you miss payments, you must make up back dues to remain in the guild’s good graces.
