Battle of the Hapin Senyu
The Conflict
Prelude
During the campaign against the Abyssal Dragon, larger and larger creatures were beginning to appear in the natures around societies. While the creatures of death and darkness were nothing new, and had been present as a reminder of the worlds' cruelty from the start, these were far more fierce and far more attuned to the ether energies in the world. These creatures were often capable of the barest of spells and magical feats before, but the further into the dragons spread, the more dangerous they grew to be. Similarly, were the Abyssal Demons, humanoid creatures capable of raising corpses to become allies. Frequently standing around 6 foot tall and with a rather ambiguous body structure, the Abyssal Demons act as masters for the creatures. Large armies of the Abyssal Demons would travel the lands and summon monsters to aid in ransacking unprotected villages on the outskirts. Raided towns would be killed to the last and added to the body count, further reinforcing the abyssal troops with more troops. Soldiers under the Banner of the Lord of Warcombe were traveling along the main roads to reinforce the Imperial Eastern Front. The force totaled nearly 10,000 soldiers, Knights, and Knight Officers. Additionally, were the ranks of Calvary, Archers, and Arcanists with ranks of 4,000/3,000/1,000 respectively. The average caster of the Arcanists ranks were qualified for combat, but on later inspection it was determined that a majority were trainees. The Lord of Warcombe had also decided to send along a large supply of Materials in carts with the soldiers, attempting to prove that the growing interest of Steam and Arc were unnecessary for the Imperial Military. The Lord had made a bet with a few others that he could send a detachment to reinforce without issue. Hapin Senyu, Devils Valley, is a long stretch of open field that has been void of life for some centuries. The actual cause for the lack of flora & fuana was never determined, but the result was a massive expanse of land with terrible rumors. Battles fought on the land were always bloody, though none would compare to the destruction in 682.
