World of Avalon is an 18+ RP/ERP server taking place in a fantasy world named Avalon.

We use a very minimal optional dice system in the group for combat.

We currently have a small group of active players that send messages and respond to posts daily! We also have tupperbox added for multicharacters!

The World of Avalon was once much like ours. Political campaigns, national militaries, democracies, dictators, warring nations. Corporations and technological progress. Peace was a novelty, but one the world was already getting cozy with... but the coming of magic spread the threads of peace thinner and thinner, till it shattered. The introduction of magic into the world caused wild, cataclsymic events to sprout up everywhere.

Climate change unlike anything the world had seen before. Beautiful, lush, green land stretching up the sides of mountains, replaced with harsh winters and glaciers as far as the eye could see. Plainslands shaken up by constant eartquakes, opening lava pools and volcanic activity throughout. Temperate forests stripped of all that grew, and soon weathered down to bare canyons and plateaus. The volatile lower layers of the atmosphere dropping all the way to the land, gale force winds and constant storms scouring some areas.

A Great Rift in reality, the apparent source of magic, opened on an island in the far northern sea. From it poured millions of magical creatures and monsters, which began to ravage the world alongside the Cataclysm. Many of those arcane creatures weren't much different than animals native to earth, save a MUCH higher predatory drive, and strange abilities with which to fulfill that ravenous need. Others were even more alien, scarcely like an animal at all. Monsters. Waves and waves of creatures Invaded each corner of the world and nearly finished what the Calamity started, almost wiping out the last remnants of humanity that had hung on till then. This event was known as The Awakening.

The Introduction of Magic into the world pushed humanity to the brink and brought with it unparalled destruction, but it also opened up a new avenue of progress. A new tool to add to humanity's toolbelt in this new and more deadly struggle for survival. Differen't pockets of humanity learned to manipulate the arcane in different ways, and gamely struggled on in the face of annihilation.

In the ashes, as a new status quo was found, and humanity stabalized in a new equilibrium, it was clear that the old nation states were gone. Over a period of around 50 years, various surviving groups banded together and pieced together new societies, with new ideas, for a brave new world.

The first to coalesce were the people of the Flame Kingdom. A patriarchal monarchy ruled by a king. Being the first to truly reemerge into the world, a belief in their own supremacy was instilled, a cultural thread that runs to the present day.

The Free Cities of Earth were an unusual case. In those lands, the people had suffered less than most, as the now dead government had poured tons of resources into buildings arcologies- Self-contained cities, most often in the form of truly massive towers. Resistant to disaster by design, but the difficulty of travel between arcologies sealed the fate of any hope of a central government. Instead, each arcology, or group of arcologies if several were close together, became nations unto themselves, their individual idealogies and societies as varied as one could imagine. Dictatorships, democracies, monarchies, and more. In those isloated societies, outlandish ideas of all sorts could and did emerge and achieve reality, for better or worse.

The Empire of Ice and Snow was formed in the far north and west of the world, in most of the coldest of regions. There, the people had only survived thanks to quick adaptation to the coming of magic, and a dash of genetic engineering, practices which have only become more bold in the modern day. The boldest and most brilliant of the scientist magisters in those early days rose to prominence, then power, then unquestioned leadership, and began a matriarchal monarchy, which has led to the rule of today's Queen Blanche.

Finally, in the most storm wracked regions of the world, far to the east, the people were at a breaking point. There was only so long they could weather the storms, but perhaps the craziest archmages of that first age had the idea of lifting a sizeable chunk of the continent into the sky. If the sky coming down to earth had caused such issues, then perhaps bringing the earth into the sky would fix the problem? Astonishgly, not only did they acomplish the feat of lifting a truly massive area high into the atmosphere, but it also worked. The storms raged far below, but the people were safe in the bright blue sky. It was among those people that the Confederation of Air was formed, a nation administered by democratically elected councils.

The peoples of the world are beginning to transition from simple recovery to truly rebuilding, with each nation going about it and adapting in different ways. There are still arcane animals and outerdimensional monsters, and the threat of all out war is once again on the horizon, but in this bright new age of magic, humanity has regained a foothold. They have a chance to prove that they can thrive in the new status quo.

It remains to be seen if they will succeed.
