"Things have changed since the Camarilla have tightened their belts; the Anarchs have been squeezed into pits like Gary"
BRET STRYKER, CHICAGO HARPY
Whereas neighbouringÂ
CHICAGO is a shining example of Camarilla dominance and order, Gary clings on to life by its finger nails. Barely 30 miles apart, the lives of many are worlds apart, for Kindred and Kine alike.
Known as the 'Rusted Jungle', Gary is a formerly prosperous steel-city but, following the depression of the manufacturing industry in the 1960's, is now a series of dilapidated districts populated by the unemployed. Two thirds of its population left, leaving only 80,000 resilient souls to scrap a living in this decaying city.
KINDRED IN GARY
Despite the poverty of Gary, or perhaps because of it, plenty of Kindred are attracted to its streets. Mostly, Anarchs dominate the city but there are some Camarilla who try to find territories within the city's limits, perhaps spilling over from nearby Chicago. Others too, not affiliated with either sect, wait in the shadows to see if an all-out war leaves a desolate city prime for the taking.
The relationship between Chicago and Gary is as complicated as their relative locations to each other are close. Kindred from Chicago tend to look down on those from New Gary, who in turn have a chip on their shoulder and regard licks from the Windy City to be arrogant. This has led to conflict as Kindred from both cities have sought to expand or invade the other's territory.
