Hunters

It was late one night I saw him, My Brother Vecatus, walking the streets of Londinium. In truth I nearly missed him, so unexpected was it, and my memory of him so faint, kept alive only by the page of my journal. I suspected him of hunting me, so in defence I sent to hunting him, seeking out the reason he could still be alive after all these years. I kept to the shadows following for many nights as he made his way about the city. He was not a Vampire that I could determine and he does still meet with groups of men hunting for supernatural prey. The only clue I found of his nature was a glass of some strange concoction I had seen him drink.

Vecatus and his hunters were more capable than I thought, or perhaps I was less stealthy than I remember. They came upon me one night while I was feeding, swords gleaming and torches burning. I was forced to flee before them. I fled with Raghnaid, taking ship with Roman citizens fleeing the country. We found ourselves in a new land, a new city, Rome. At first things were difficult, neither myself nor Raghnaid spoke the language. It was only on a particularly desperate night and a sudden frenzied feeding that I discovered as I drained the man past death that I could now understand his speech. I take the new name Marcus and Raghnaid changes hers to Annia in order to throw off pursuit.

Hunters came for me again, this time in the guise of a mortal friend. Antonio de Albertis, descendant of my old friend Bruno de Albertis came for me. He looked so like his ancestor it took me of guard, he said he had grown up with stories of his ancestors strange friend and decided to find out if they were true. I took him at his word and accepted his invitation to his home, but when I entered the building I was assailed by light and sound, my heightened senses overwhelmed. Fortunately I had the presence of mind throw myself from the building. I escaped but I worry what else the de Albertis know of me.
