After Baroness Hollandra ni Fiona was killed in battle against the Nunnehi, Wanda Provone, former captain of the guard of Vermilion Shores, took up the lead and stopped the fight, forging the first tenuous peace treaty between the Nunnehi and the fae of Vermillion Shores.
The people of the barony urged Wanda to become freeholder and requested recognition from Duchess Lisette Levay. Lisette point blank said she didn't care and literally brought the recognition of Wanda Provone as a titled leader down to a game of dice played on an old fortunetelling stump outside of Spirit Hall. Wanda hated this move, but her longtime friend and advisor Cederick ap Liam urged her to try playing the games of the nobility, noting that she would need to work in their world to bring change. She reluctantly accepted and sent Kombe, a crafty eshu bard from her motley to be her representative.
Kombe won, and Wanda's title was recognized by Lisette. She quickly and happily swore to Duke Ruari after Lisette LeVay's death.
Ruler of Vermilion Shores, Wanda is an earnest and popular titled troll who earned her position through service to her barony.
