Expectations for Sidhe players:
Sidhe are considered the rules of the fae world and in this setting sidhe players are expected to be active leaders in the community. Certainly any player and any kith can be a leader and will be rewarded IC. However, commoner players may also choose to simply play on the sidelines in their comfort zone. Sidhe players may not.
- Sidhe players need to be active on the chat. This means in character an average of 3/week in public rooms with a variety of PCs. If you have a leave absence for any reason, please communicate that with any staff member.
- Sidhe players are expected to proactively use bluebooks and the research thread without being prompted by STs
- Sidhe players are expected to be involved in at least one of the venue storylines.
- Sidhe players are expected to be proactive about requesting scenes that involve themselves and other players
- Sidhe players need to demonstrate an understanding of noblesse oblige IC which includes interacting with a variety of PCs in the playerbase. For reference noblesse oblige: the inferred responsibility of privileged people to act with generosity and nobility toward those less privileged.
Guidelines for Sidhe Creation for Forbidden Secrets:
Based upon the current IC population of Forbidden Secrets, there is currently 1 Sidhe slot available. When the playerbase grows, we will open up more sidhe slots
Sidhe must submit a background first, and then will be contacted if they should make the sheet for the character.
The requirements for playing a sidhe will be as follows, in addition to the standard Character Creation guidelines:
1. The concept must clearly embody not only the influence of their kith, but the influence of their house as well. The sidhe are the Shining Host, those born with the inherent thought that in some way, they are meant to rule amongst fae. They chrysalize differently, they interact with the world differently; they remember things differently than most commoners save for possibly the deepest autumn members. Each house espouses it's own views on ruling, other kiths, et cetera as well as is outlined in their sections of various house books.
2. There should be a clear understanding of how the liege to vassal relationship works. While this is not a form of slavery, at points it cannot be too far off. Consider how the PC will react to being asked to do things that they may object to by the person to whom they are sworn because chances are, it will come up IC.
Sidhe are restricted for a reason. They are rare and require a concentrated effort on both the part of the player and the ST. Players need to demonstrate that you are capable of not only roleplaying the concept but being an in character leader and a dedicated player. Sidhe will be required to be active on a regular basis. This does not mean every day, but this also does not mean just show up once or twice a week, look pretty and do nothing. There will be tasks to do.
In character, Forbidden Secrets is a dark horse of counties. It is not well recognized by the King's Court and many rumors say that it is dangerous and unwelcoming of nobles. You need an in character reason why your sidhe would be in such a traditionally unsavory place
Character Questions:
These are the questions that all sidhe backgrounds should cover. You may answer them in your background or submit a background as well as these questions:
- How did the character chrysalize? When and where? What was there mortal life like before this point?
- What are their views on the liege/vassal relationship?
- How do they feel about the Seelie Court? The Unseelie Court? Why are they affiliated with the court they are?
- What does your character view as their role in fae society?
- How does your character embody the beliefs of their house? How will they further them?
- How was your character raised? Where were they fostered and how did they learn the arts and realms that they did?
- Please explain how they view the mundane world now and what their role is there.
- What are the characters goals and motivations? Why are they coming to Forbidden Secrets as opposed to any other demesne? Was it voluntary or are they being sent for some reason?
- How does your character define leadership? How will you, the player portray this leadership?
- Please explain any treasures, dreamers or companions.
