Biography: Prior to his tutelage as one of the Sons of Allanor, Valdis often found himself in trouble with the law. Originally a resident of Dyvers, Valdis was forced to flee that city after being implicated in a brazen theft of a foreign merchant's stall. The items were recovered but the merchant had powerful allies at his disposal and it soon became clear to the young rogue that a rapid exit via the lakeside docks was necessary for continued health and happiness. After some years of travel abroad, Valdis was hired on under the protective care of Allanor the Wise, a sage of great repute that had given long study to the forces of Elemental Evil that he feared might arise again one day. Unbeknownst to Valdis and the other mercenaries under the sage's care, they were being groomed as a team that might be sent to infiltrate and combat any future incarnation of the dreaded cult.
Indeed this did come to pass, as Allanor had foreseen, and Valdis and his comrades were propelled from the sage's care onto a road of carnage and retribution. Following the clues left behind in the wake of Allanor's untimely death at the hands of these cultists, Valdis and his comrades were caught up in an epic conflict with the rising forces of Elemental Evil that once again had set their wicked plans against the inhabitants of the regions in and around the town of Hommlet.
Valdis's adventures would see him ascend in skill and power as he and his fellow crusaders faced off against ever more deadly foes, whose sinister purposes were finally laid bare in a climactic battle with a group calling themselves the Doomdreamers. These terrible villains sought to bastardize and exploit the power of Elemental Evil to locate and release their dreaded deity: He Who Must Never Awaken. But thanks to Valdis and his comrades, the Doomdreamers' plans were thwarted, and the second ascension of the Temple of Elemental Evil was checked.

Present Whereabouts
Valdis never returned from a final excursion beneath the old Temple of Elemental Evil. It is possible he has been killed, but there are some who believe otherwise.
