Wilbur grew up as one of over a dozen siblings (some adopted) in the Gourd crime family an intelligent and quiet young man he quickly learned the ways of the artificer under his brother Pollock's wing as he learned and improved his abilities, he would eventually construct his mechanical owlbear and travelling companion Archie. With his skills and technical know-how, Wilbur was often assigned to assist with the smuggling operations of the Gourd family until the day a deal his father, Father Allister Gord, made with a green Dragon, Zellaniha Neches, went badly. His family fortune and criminal empire a shadow of its former self and his brother, Pollock killed by the Zellaniha Neches Wilbur too to adventuring hoping to find a way to earn enough money and power to retake the family home and avenge his brother. Intelligent and sometimes cocky there is little he wouldn’t do to protect his family.

Wilbur's fighting style was inspired by the character, Price Edgard from Final Fantasy VI
