Temple of the Sun and Moon - Town of Whitesparrow

Area Aspects: Open-air nave, statues of Oeridian/Elven gods with hands raised to the sky with huge floating orb hovering where a roof might be; appearing as a miniature sun.

The central nave of this large circular temple is open to the sky above and adorned by five ancient statues of deities —including a statue depicting the Pholtus god of law the sun and the moon —their faces and arms held up to the sky.

An orb hangs in midair in the center of the open nave, glowing with scintillating colors. Rings of stone pews face a central fountain beneath the orb, which bubbles with warm water.

A small circular house sits nearby, artfully decorated with symbols of the sun and moons (Oerth has two).

The main chamber of the temple is open to the sky through a stone entryway, while the stone rooms around it are roofed of clay and slate to protect the temple’s ceremonial items. A collapsed floor in the back of one storeroom of the temple leads into catacombs last explored centuries ago.

The scintillating orb has been present in the temple for as long as anyone can remember. Four years ago, enterprising thieves tried to steal the orb armed with an exceptionally tall ladde—only to have the lead thief disappear as soon as her fingers touched the orb, never to be seen again.

A nearby home is the residence of the temple’s current protector, Elovyn Sorrowsong (a Solarian).

THE GODS REPRESNTED BY THE STATUES ARE:
Pholtus (Lawful-neutral/good) - God of Sun, Moons and Infelxibility
Prior to the rise of the City of Greyhawk and the oligarchs the Helix valley was settled by Puritan Pholtins (worshippers of the deity of inflexibility, the sun and moon). As, the area became more settled by those of other faiths the church waned to the point that much of it's past history is forgotten. Within the village of Whitesparrow many offer alms but is mostly lip service with very few devout followers.

Daern (Lawful-neutral) - Goddess of the Engineering and Fortifications
Though not directly related to the worship of the sun and moon, Daernites were responsible for the construction of this magnificent temple complex. As such, they requested that a shrine to their deity be installed. The shrine is set in alcoves at the temples main entrance as opposed to to one of the six towers.

Cyndor (Lawful-neutral) - God of time, infinity and continuity
The all-father of the Oeridian pantheon has concerns that so transcend common mortals he is often silent to his followers.

Celestian (Neutral) - God of Stars, space and wanderers
The far wanderer often acts as a bridge between the various asrtological deity. Those who worship his brother Fharlagn (god of roads and travel) can make offering at his shrine as well.

Sehanine Moonbow (Chaotic-Good) - Goddess of the Moon (Celune), Dreams, Far journeys and transcendence
Originally an elven goddess her association to Oerths largest moon (Celune) has had mortals of other races turn to her for worship. It is also of note that the Helix valley once contained many elves before they retreated the pure elvish kingdom of Celene.

Eilestraee (Chaotic-good) - Goddess of swordsmanship, oerths other moon (Kule), night hunting, beauty, dance and freedom
Patron of good aligned drow who like her step-mother Sehanine has found many non-elven worshippers do to her association with the moon Kule. It is also important to note that the Helix valley does have connections to the underdark.

Sol a.k.a. Pelor (Neutral-Good) - God of Sun, strength and healing
