Nolan Porifiro
Nolan was a contestant in the Vytal Festival where he fought with team JNPR, his team was defeated and thus his presence n the story faded while off-screen. Nolan became suspicious of the Grimm and his team went to check out Mt. Glenn to see if any Grimm were gathering up, they met an entire army. During the Battle of Beacon, his team was wiped out in Mt. Glen holding off thousands of Grimm giving the city valuable time to respond to the Grimm.
He was later medivaced by Atlas and soon joined Team SSSN where he fell in love with Scarlet, after a few months the team broke up with Sun going after Blake, Neptune going to Mistral and Sage following Nolan there with Neptune. Eventually, Neptune went to try to secure Shade academy from continuous Grimm attacks while Nolan and Sage stayed behind. He joined Weiss and yang's mission not to find Team RNJR after they failed to reach Haven Academy.
Soon after the mission began they were captured by the White Fang, where he and Weiss under threat of death of themselves and their apparently captured team raided Giga Extractor 3 outside of Kuchinashi and Argus. Despite being a two-man team, he and Weiss successfully raided the Extractor, crippling the facility and only killing two people, both of which were an SDC Sniper and Spotter both by Nolan's hand.
He and Weiss were nearly executed after saving all of the Faunus only to be saved by Sage and Yang who figured out they had to go to Menagerie to stop a White Fang Coup'detat. Arriving late they undo Adam's dictatorship within a day and restore the belladonnas as leaders. Nolan after liberating Menagerie decided to check out Sayuna Valley on a hunch Ruby was there all along getting arrested by the SDC soon after.
He was released by team RNJR and spent the next two years engaging in covert operations against the SDC. Formally joining the Red Rangers and joining the main cast of characters alongside Coleen.
Equipment and Abilities
Nolan is what is referred to as an Operator, this means he's a jack of all trades Huntsmen. He has his classic Cattle Prod but specialises in a lot of weapons. Namely, he's taken after his late Comrade May Zedong and uses her sniper rifle with added specifications. He's skilled at sword fighting in many forms including Kenjutsu to HEMA-type styles. He can always switch up weapons and keeps some knives handy. He also knows Gun Fu which is reminiscent of Sun's Style of gun-slinging, showing he's taken some lessons from Sun Wukong.Semblance
Nolan has a Passive Semblance, Iron Skin. This means he has much higher endurance than other people. This is why he was able to survive when the rest of his team was slaughtered by thousands of Grimm. Nolan likes to think his Semblance is referencing his general attitude to life. He's ready to stand in front of any danger for his teammates and doesn't much care what harm comes his way. Another feature of his Semblance is a lower detection chance from Grimm as his ability to tank higher damage naturally results in less fear from bodily harm meaning Grimm have an easier time not seeing him. The Weakness of the Semblance is that when it is active if he has sustained a grievous injury, he will not feel it until after he's either run out of Aura or deactivated the ability. He can use this potential weakness to endure horrific injuries for much longer and reach medical attention where others would break down and die.Personality
Nolan was radically transformed by the Fall of Beacon as prior he was a somewhat Arrogant, Disinterested and slightly aloof man who was only in the Vytal Festival to support his team and had little care for glory or fame. Growing up in Vacuo gave him perspective on the bigger picture and this is why he led his team to Mountain Glenn and stalled many Grimm from attacking Vale during the early stages of the Battle of Beacon. After losing his team he became a considerably more Mellow but protective person with few delusions. Nolan believes that the world is going to fall no matter what because States exist and states can't react properly to the Grimm, too maladapted. Despite that, he is a sympathetic person who reaches out to people and defends his team. He's always pretty openly gay and flirts with guys in his team. He most notably fell in love with Scarlet who connected after the Fall of Beacon. He isn't exactly the most comfortable around women but gets along with Ruby and Weiss pretty easily for not only were they already taken but also had no chance of romantic interest in him. Nolan isn't very interested in Politics but often knows exactly who to blame for what. He's of the opinion that states are doomed to fail but he isn't in the business of making them fail unless they should which has been considered striking Atlas more than once.Trauma Response
Before Beacon, Nolan didn't know his Semblance and unlocked it after Brawnz Ni seemingly died at the hands of a pack of Beowulves. Since then he's always been somewhat dismissive of his own Trauma surrounding the disaster. Often calling what happened 'A Hunter's End'. Yet despite that, he is clearly still extremely depressed and gets anxious and dangerous when teammates are threatened. Because of this, he doesn't see a problem with taking life if it is in the service of protecting the team.Reputation
He's considered a pretty well performing huntsmen and has a good amount of Prestige with his guild with factions like the SDC obliviously having an extremely sour perception of him and his anarchist views. Despite that, he's known for his professionalism and high Success / Failure ratio on his record. After getting lost in Sayuna Valley for 2 years, he reemerged as a nobody but swiftly gained the reputation as a deadly marksman, with Coleen at his side. He's fought with multiple hunters fro the SDC, White Fang and criminal Syndicates by then and other Hunters learn not to fuck with Porifiro. Customers often see him as a noble soul doing honest work and don't mind when clients can't pay. To him, Work is work and there's no point complaining about it.
