Electrum
In the early times back in the early creation of Renstrom and the settling of the various kingdoms. Electrum was widely traded. It was even minted into beautiful coins equivalent to half a gold piece in value. Sometime in the early 900 to 1200 Electrum was no longer traded and accepted. After 1200 various assassin guilds, a thieves guilds and even mercenary guilds would trade in Electrum. Shortly after that Electrum was only traded in the various black markets. Jewelers and other artisans still tend to gather Electrum for their various artistic needs.
The assassin guild use electrum in some sinister ways. They will etch an image of their target on electrum coins. If you see your coin just note there is a bounty on you.
