Origin & Source

Ancient Origins
Ghost Iron, a translucent iron with ethereal properties, originally emerged from the remnants of Zephyr'Lyra, the third moon of Stendaaris. The cataclysmic event that shattered Zephyr'Lyra imbued the iron with unique magical properties, allowing it to interact with the ethereal plane. For centuries, Ghost Iron was a rare and coveted material used in crafting weapons and tools effective against ethereal beings.
Recent Resurgence
Thirty-two years ago, an extraordinary event occurred when the Feywild began merging with the Material Plane. This convergence also involved the Ethereal Plane, resulting in a significant transformation of the once Blight Forest into a Fey overgrowth. During this period, a high abundance of Ghost Iron was discovered in forests with Fey ancestry. This resurgence of Ghost Iron is now believed to have originated from the Shadowfell, which was also drawn into the convergence.
New Theories
Modern scholars and mages propose that the new deposits of Ghost Iron in Fey-influenced forests have a different origin than previously thought. They hypothesize that the merging of the Feywild, Ethereal Plane, and Shadowfell during the convergence created new veins of Ghost Iron, infused with energies from all three planes. This unique combination of planar influences is believed to enhance the iron's ethereal properties and resistance to decay.
