Or'es
Or'es was a zealot in life. A noble son with a noble goal, wanting nothing more then to protect the people of his land from that which lurked in the shadows. As such he swore his noble house in service to the Hallow Order of Kelemvor. Devoting his life to the order he soon became a preacher of some renown.
In time his faith was rewarded as the voice of Kelemvor himself echoed within his hear. It was a solemn warning of a nightmare which had descended from its fortress to alter the fates of man and beast. As such in three days time Or'es would use his name to rally a crusade to fight the coming darkness, from knights to paladins, and clerics to peasants they set off with little more then the armor on their backs and faith in their hearts. This was a divine calling, and a calling of Kelemvor would not go unheeded by the righteous.
Though little did they know what they would truly face when they stood against the darkness, Kelemvors warning brought to light the existence of a lord of vampires; a great shadow lurking behind mortal men, and in this case an army hailing from the distant Kingdom of Farstone. As such the crusade would not take them to a necropolis or decrepit castle, but rather to a war between the kingdoms of Farstone and Vyrin.
In the beginning attempts were made to convince the warmasters of Farstone of this deceit; but in the middle of war men of arms protect their brothers and could not accept the notion that one of their own could be a vampire. Such accusations were not taken lightly, and thus the order would have to make an enemy of Farstone if it were to root out this evil and fight with the kingdom of Vyrin; and so they had, as they made audience with the king of Vyrin and pledged their crusade to the war.
Their force were to be tasked with the protection of a few towns that would later be known as the ground for the Battle of Spearpoint. Though only partially keeping their word, the order would the skirmish between between Vyrin and Farstone to sneak into the warmasters camp with a small detachment of warriors and slay the vampire and hopefully end the war swiftly. To their surprise it would seem the camp was guarded by a reserve detachment of knights, dooming the battle to shed blood not of only monsters but of men as well. As these veteran knights would fight to the last to try and fend off Or'es and his crusaders of Kelemvor.
This battle would last until sunset, and few among Or'es party were left standing after the battle, among which were only five of his order. Yet, they still had their duty and marched on to the warmasters tent in searched of the vampire. As they both would expected and dread, the vampire would be awaiting them woken by the falling sun. As the first two paladins to approach the tent would fall to the ground lifeless as their shoulders now lacked a head standing upon them. In front of which now stood an armor clad knight in crimson regalia, distinct in that it emanated with an aura of hatred as if each fallen knight in the camp were demanding their blood or their lives in payment; the king of the night would appear not to see his pawns disregarded so lightly.
The resulting duel against the vampire lord would last until the moon had risen high into the night sky, a terror to behold as each passing moment gave the creature of the night more power. Though with holy fervor the last three warriors of the order would not cease until their duty was done, though little did they know the fate the vampire had in store for them. Being spared Kelemvors welcome they were not struck down like their fallen companions; striking at the arms and legs the vampire would have Or'es and his paladins forced to their knees as blood loss and exhaustion would take their toll.
At the mercy of a vampire Or'es spoke like a man of true faith cursing the vampires existence and the evil it had committed; in a way it was an amusing sentiment when the vampire had their lives in its hands. Returning the sentiment by speaking of every evil it had committed, and to the surprise of Or'es that list was no greater then any moral mans. It was the vampires vision of the world which brought Kelemvors ire, a prophesy of a world free from the tyranny of mortality, fear, and death. A vision which to even his own surprise appealed to Or'es, as he'd come to realize his righteousness was not born out of faith in the gods but in service of his people.
The look on his face said everything the vampire needed to know, and to prove the point the vampire slit both of Or'es companions throats in front of him. To Or'es horror one of them was risen as a half dead an abomination and the other as a skeletal creature of nightmares. The zombie immediately tried grasping for Or'es and was quickly ended by the vampire, while the skeleton appeared fully sentient remembering everything before his death and still reattaining his free will.
At the time it would seem black hearted, but the vampire lord had an eternity to convince them that mortality was nothing but the greatest insult the gods bestowed upon mortals. Thus if they truly wanted to help people, they would help make his dark dream a reality, making death a choice, and no longer the curse it is. In time Or'es and the undead paladin were sired by the vampire with only one condition, that they set aside their hate for the undead and do what is truly right for the world. The undead paladin would later go by the name Divinity as if to mock the divine by his existence, and Or'es would become a vampire in service to the one who showed him the light that lingered in the darkness.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
Personality:
Becoming a vampire changed Or'es in some ways that his old self would hate, but in this new unlife he is fanatically loyal to the vampire who sired him, and despite his kind and caring nature for all mortals he is willing to do whatever is necessary to bring his masters dark dream to the world.
As a person deception is his greatest weapon, as he understands the fear of undead better then anyone. Thus to convert the masses he pretends to be a preacher; or rather he never stopped being one, now in service to a new purpose, his masters dream.
A Vampire that walks in the Sun:
For his betrayal of faith and becoming a vampire, Or'es was cursed to never have the light of day grace his face ever again. Thus his grated helm is a curse object and a blessing in disguise as he can no longer take it off; as it is bolted by cursed nails into his neck that can never be removed. Though as a side effect of the curse, the sun does not stop his regeneration in the sun as the curse will never let him see the sun. Thus even if his body burns to ash his head will remain, and so he need only wear a cloak to walk the day without fear.
