Holytree

The spiritual heart of the clans and the traditional center of their most sacred ceremonies. It’s literally a giant, sentient tree (oak) in the middle of a large plain dotted with a complicated assortment of monoliths, earthworks, and living hedges. Traditionally, all Wealding clan folk are supposed to go on a pilgrimage to Holytree at least once in their lives. The tree is a saint of Dainu, Mother of Summer and rarely communicates. When it does communicate, the communication is very slow (perhaps a sentence or two over the course of a week or so, if it's so inclined), but taken very seriously by Wealdings. Holytree communicates only telepathically. There are a few stories about how the tree came to be sentient and there and a saint, but no one knows for sure.
