Transglobal Trade Corporation

The Transglobal Trade Corporation (TTC) is a trade organization that operates throughout all of Shoujin. It is also the governing body of the Giff people. The TTC is considered a world power and every other nation must seriously consider how they manage their relationship with them.

Demography and Population

While the Giff historically were native members of a number of small nations in the Land of Milk and Honey, the TTC today completely fills the role of governing the Giff people, who are their dominant demographic.

Territories

The TTC occupies significant swarthes of land both in their native continent and in Wagakeya. In addition, they have ownership of all major trade routes on Shoujin.

Military

The TTC employs a sizeable navy and air force, but they are largely intended to protect shipments and banks. While known worldwide for their expansionist visions, the TTC generally expands their territory through economic deals rather than through military force.

Technological Level

TTC technology is archetypal steampunk, borderline dieselpunk. They are one of the most technologically advanced nations, especially in regards to (air) transportation.   At the scientific level, the TTC is rivaled only by Corvuscopia in Wagakeya. Even then, while the TTC may not live up to the Corvuscopia's incredible contributions to the study of magic and philosophy, the TTC more than makes up for it in their significant and numerous contributions to the sciences and engineering. TTC-employed scientists are at the forefront of today's latest technologies and discoveries. Many Kenku scholars receive joint funding from the TTC and Corvuscopia.

Foreign Relations

The TTC maintains positive relations with most countries, although a small number of countries remain ambivalent about them and the Orcs are currently in open hostilities with them. While most official relationships are positive, there are growing concerns about TTC expansionism and gentrification.   In private, many nations are concerned about the ever greater influence the TTC has on global affairs. Many concerns are similar to those held by real-world Americans living in small towns might have about large corporations--mistreatment of employees, the extinction of local culture, an increasing reliance on outsiders for one's livelihood, exploitation of vulnerable populations, etc. As such, the arrival of Giff employed by the TTC to a town may be a major event. Some may cheer for all the new opportunities the TTC will provide to a destitute town, whereas others will protest that the establishment of TTC commerce in a community will be the true start of that community's downfall.   The Giff leaders of the TTC themselves tend to view other races through a utilitarian lens. The TTC will generally only provide aid in instances from which its leaders recognize they will profit. This type of approach to the world, combined with their control of all major trade routes, gives them a stranglehold on international relations, and everybody knows it.

Trade & Transport

All major trade routes on Shoujin are controlled by the TTC. While they historically used other methods, today the TTC typically employs sea vessels and airships to transport goods across Shoujin. For many landlocked communities, a TTC airship is a familiar sight.

Education

A core belief of the TTC is that the best salesman knows as much as possible about any potential customer. To this end, the TTC funds a significant amount of academic pursuits and education. Its citizens even in small rural communities are often very well educated about everything from language arts and math to the history and geography of their local area. Many other nations employ TTC educators to teach their communities, especially in smaller towns in Wagakeya. Many pivotal scientific discoveries were paid for by the TTC.
