Titivilus , the Ambassador of Hell

The Ambassador of Hell to the Kirinal Concordance Zone

Ambassador Titivilus

The officially accredited Ambassador of Hell to the Kirinal Concordance Zone is the archdevil known as Titivilus. He has come at the behest of his masters to ensure that the desires and intentions of the devilish Baatezu are promoted to the Concordance for Survival. He argues that his people are a force for Law and all that stands between the multiverse and the depredations of the demonic Tanar'ri. While there is a kernel of truth to what the Ambassador says, when dealing with devils, you must always think about what they're leaving out.

Over the millenia, we orcs have been cannon fodder for both sides of the Blood War. We know very well how to deal with devils. They'll promise you the world, but take your soul away with the fine print. I know they have a role to play here in the Zone, but I prefer to leave them to it down in the Southern Slice! The farther away from me, the better!

Sgt. Kill Flayer

The official Ambassador of Hell to the Kirinal Concordance Zone is the archdevil known as Titivilus. He came at the invitation of the High Table several decades ago and has become a mainstay at diplomatic banquest and high society events. He can be seen in the other Embassy Cities around the Pit engaging in negotiations and diplomacy.

He's a strong advocate aganist bigotry and promotes the interests of his tiefling relatives. The Embassy of Hell is always one of the biggest donors annually to Sgt. Sunder's BBQ-Palooza.

Why, I do declare! You're gonna write an article about lil' ol' me? There are so many more interesting folks here around this mortal Zone of yours! I'm just a simple back-pit diplomat here to ensure that the interests of my betters are properly seen to! I'm happy to help out here and there if I can! Especially them precious little orphans from the barbecue! I do love me some smoked meats!

— Titivilus, Ambassador of Hell

Kirinalos see him as an eccentric visitor that you have to be careful around. He does everything completely legally, but he still wants to own your Mortal Soul! Savvy Kirinalos know better than to bargain away their entire soul, they just sell pieces of it that will eventually grow back or get replaced.

Oh pish posh honey! Of course I want souls! I am a devil after all! But in these here modern times, I can get by with just the eensiest teensiest little piece of it! I can't make you the best singer in the world with just a little bit, but I CAN help you pay your mortgage!

— Titivilus, Ambassador of Hell

Master of Manipulation

Titivilus is not an imposing figure like the pit fiend General, the Baron Aginnad. He appears as a medium sized red-skinned humanoid who looks just a little more devilish than your average tiefling. Despite his outer appearance, the Ambassador is a powerful archdevil who earned his position through his mastery of charm, persuasion, and maunipulation.

He secured his position as an adviser to Asmodeus with his uncanny ability to say the right words at the right time, swaying opinions and bending those around him to his will. A shrewd politician, he navigated the treacherous politics of Hell, leaving his rivals bewildered while cementing the loyalty of his allies.

Oh honey! You're going to make me blush! That's quite a feat since I'm already, as you say, red in the face! Let me just let you in on a little secret here! I know how to butter your biscuit if you know what I mean! I'm not afraid to give my enemies a whack with my soup spoon, but my friends get invited to the feast!

— Titivilus, Ambassador of Hell

Signing the Hell Week Accords

Since his arrival, Titivilus has lobbied for the passage of the Hell Week Accords. He has argured that the peril of Shatter could be almost totally assuaged by allowing Hell to Manifest in the Kirinal Pit for an entire week once a year. He guaranteed that the Infernal Forces of Hell would be well behaved and stay within the confines of the Pit Wall except for "tourist excursions" for the most well behaved of the Baatezu.

He was actually surprised a few years ago when the Hell Week Timeshare Contract was actually signed into law. He had been facing opposition on it so hard, but was overjoyed and a little sad that his work in the Zone was complete.

The Infernal Forces Escape

Much to the Ambassador's horror, the Infernal Forces that manifested in the army belonged to the Infernal Triumverate. They delcared that they were not party to the elaborate contract that the Ambassador had spent decades putting together. The three armies were pledged to three dark gods and sought to complete the Ritual of Lunar Apotheosis for their masters. The three armies escaped the Kirinal Pit when the Teleport Sinks preventing unauthorized teleportation mysteriously failed. They now gather strength in non-Concordant lands and plot to return to the Zone and possibly take it over.

As the Ambassador of Hell, Titivilus was left embarrassed and in breach of many of his contracts. He faces the unenviable task of managing the repercussions and mitigating any potential threats that his so-called "allies" may pose. He is figuring out how to navigate the crisis while ensuring that Hell's interests remain intact while balancing delicate relations with the Zone.

Those sons of angels from the Infernal Triumverate have certainly put me in a pickle! How dare they circumvent all the hard work I've been doing here with the good mortal people of the Concordance! I have no idea how I'm going to get out of this in one piece... But I can't wait to figure it out! I've never had such fun!

— Titivilus, Ambassador of Hell

Soul Reasons to Keep His Job

Recognizing the tenuousness of his position after such a public failure, Titivilus has increased his efforts to collect mortal souls. Even though the people of the Zone are cautious, he has been increasing the numbers of soul fractions that he has been collecting. His continued presence in the Zone as Ambassador accurately reflects the success of his efforts.

He has also been bolstering his efforts and cementing his position by making side deals and strategic alliances. He has begun recruiting adventurers to help him with challenges arising from the escaped infernal armies. He offers generous rewards and Molndalian citizenship to those willing to assist him. He has identified Aiden, T-R01D The Death-Bound Revenant, Lanzo "Lance Uppercut" von Razak, and Atticus Ashbury-Smythe as potential power players who could align with him.

Oh yeah! My buddies Aiden, T, Lance, and Atticus! Those are some of my favorite adventurers to turn up in quite a while! I feel like i can lead them down the path of good intentions! Eventually I'm hoping to raise a little Hell with them!

Would he take a goth girl and her pet spider to the ballet?

If you have a soul and you're willing to cut a deal, he'll take anyone anywhere!

I like him. I don't think I would trust him as far as I could throw him, but I like him. XD

He is extremely likable and you can expect him to keep his word, but you shouldn't trust him.

I really like your character articles where the character has a kind of conversation with the narrator. The structure is really fun to read. (I also love when demonic beings reverse our typical idioms, like "sons of angels.")   I think I spotted two typos: In the first paragraph (under Sgt. Kill Flayer's quote) "diplomatic banquest" should be "diplomatic banquets" and under "Master of Manipulation," "charm, persuasion, and maunipulation" should be "manipulation.

Thank you! Those are my favorites too! I have SO MANY typos on this article! I'll fix them when I'm allowed to edit!

That's Summer Camp for you. I keep flicking through articles and going "well, that formatting is completely messed up." and "How did I not notice the number of mispelled words here?!"

Apart from the fact that I just find the character very well done, I think the character's comments on this entry are just brilliant. These sons of angels. Really great!
