The Wolf in the Eyes of the Moon

Haven

What is Haven to the lycanthrope? Some believe it is an idea, a philosophy for the truest form of what mortals can become. For others, a fabled location of peaceful grassland, yet wholly wild and untamed by any society of the mortal realm.
I have encountered both parties on my travels in the black, all referring to the Haven with as much spiritual belief as that of a Dwarf when speaking of Moradin, and the supposed "Alpha" which resides there. Often unclear, it is possible there is more than one 'Alpha,' or that the alpha may not even be of a mortal form at all, but as a large spiritual body, binding all life together, as preached by groups such as the Cult of Herna - or similar lycanthrope gatherings.

When interviewing members of The Order of the Lycan, they believe that The Haven is indeed real, though it's exact location is hidden from the world - merely doorways which open allowing travel, allegedly in faewilds, ancient forests, and occasional areas of magical phenomanon; opening on a full moon.

This opens up a lot of hearsay in study, as supposedly, anyone can find these doorways and pass through, but safe travel is only permitted to those recently turned, or those with greater control of their beast form. The exact specificities are unknown to me, and I will leave open for further study - valuing my life and sanity. Those too wild in their beastform may be seen as unruley by the alleged alpha, or perhaps the internal community of the Haven in general.
The doorways are minimal. Only one exists in the whole of Evalon, with 2-3 in the Dasian Continent, and some spread in the further regions of the world. Most of this? Rumour. However, entertaining the idea, the Haven would supposedly have a great connection to the magical realm, most portals are perhaps result of a surge of wild magic.
I personally speculate that these portals are made by Lycan spellcasters, either by accident or on purpose. I was once able to watch a ritual of masks and fire, demonstrated by a pack of lycanthropes, where they attempted to summon a doorway to Haven. Sadly, assuming these doorways are literal and not a spiritual journey, the ritual did not succeed in summoning any magical phenomena in my pressence.
Lycans are also supposed to be punished by the Haven, according to the Cult of Joseir, a lycanthrope who acts outside of the pack is one doomed to never really be able to tame their form, either taken to the Haven by others for cleansing or destruction.

Taming

Some Lycans see taming not as gaining control of their beastform, but of their mortal form. While there are those who cling to their mortal side, others see the beast as the next natural step in their racial path, favouring it over any mortal frame.
Despite the connotations of "Tame," most Lycanthropes agree that it is a logical step in their lives, like a humans 13th Birthday into manhood, Taming is just a part of "growing up."
