Aigir Akrar: Growing Pot

History

Trees are beneficial to humans, and unchecked deforestation could pose a problem to human life. Conversely, werai enjoy flat open lands in which they bask in the sun. It is believed that the old werai empires had issues with unchecked forestation, which is why Unterritory is such a jungled wilderness. They had a species of trees that grew as fast and as plentifully as weeds, shaped by centuries of targeted eradication and unintended natural selection. The most vile of these specimens were placed in a pot, the ceramics of which had certain properties that kept the seeds from sprouting. Supposedly the seeds of the pot would have been studied to try and curtail the epidemic; sadly, the werai empires didn't survive long enough to find a solution. Much later, this pot was discovered and brought back to Keyrit, a mountainous country with famously sparse forests, where it was kept under lock and key. If that pot broke, the host continent would be in for a rude ecological awakening.

Significance

It was rumored that consumption of a couple of the seeds could give you the height and the strength of the ancient Kauaru. This was backed up by nothing more than it sounding right. Still, the hopes of kauaru descendants and many with below-average height spurred the Keyrit government to keep it under additional protection.
Rarity
As far as modern society knows, this item is unique. However, the pot could be easily replicated with modern as well as ancient technology. With viral plants literally sprouting like weeds and doubtless dozens of facilities committed to research, it is likely that there were several of these at one time. Perhaps one of them broke back in the day, leading to yet more of the mighty forests of Unterritory!
